Hindi. Used in India/ Pakistan/ Indian occupied regions of the UK, Canada. Literal meaning is a respectful term for sister. Also used in a derogatory manner to denote unfashionable, uncool, housewifey sort. Usually dressed in a Punjabi 'suit' (a salwar kameez) speaking almost always in Punjabi or Hindi.
