Tamla Kahn is a band that was formed in the heart of the Limpopo province in the misty mountains of Magoebaskloof (South Africa) by a young thrash/metal guitarist by the name of Tamla McMahon, who did her first solo performance at the age of 11.

She was later joined by musicians who came and went until eventually a solid 3 piece band was formed and together they decided to settle for the name Tamla Kahn. Derived from the name of a river in Botswana called the Thamalakane river; it means "place of many reeds." The members of the band are all self-taught musicians and their style of music has always had a metal influence, but has progressed with few influences into a unique style that can almost be described as Metal-Punk.
