"Best in show" is the title that is given to a winning animal in an animal show/competition, such as a dog show, cat show, or horse show. There can be more than one "best in show" at any one show, because each show has multiple categories. The categories are usually differentiated by breed of animal, and each category will have one "best in show." It describes the very best example of a particular category or classification.
Thurston: "My beagle just won best in show today!!"

Lovie: "Congratulations! My Shih Tsu came in best in show today too! I wonder if Mary-Ann's poodle was best in show, or if she lost to Ginger's bitch."

"Deadplace" refers to the attempt to define a person's origins attributed to them by their place of birth, rather than accepting an individual's right to self-define where they are from and how they self-identify.

The origin of "deadplac(e)"-ing stems from "deadnam(e)"-ing of transgender people, wherein others attempt to define someone according to a name that is in fact "dead" in that it is no longer used or recognised as appropriate to the individual's own story.
"I may have been born in Detroit, but I only lived there until I was 15 year old. I have lived 36 years in San Francisco. Do not DEADPLACE me by calling me a Detroiter--I am a San Franciscan."

"I was born in Syria, and have lived in the USA since I was 3. I am a US citizen. Don't DEADPLACE me by telling me to go back to my country...I am in *MY* country."
