Car manufactured by Nissan. Popular because of its good weight balance, relatively low curb weight, and RWD transmission. So named because it is powered by a 2.4-litre engine.

Automobile released in the JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) by Nissan, produced between 1989 and 1999 due to populatity. Based on the Silvia S13 chassis, this car was re-released with a fastback and retractable headlights, as well as a restyled body. Initially, the car released with a 1.8L turbocharged CA18DET engine, but was later replaced with the well-known SR20DET 2.0L turbocharged engine. Major features of the car include it's rear-wheel drivetrain, excellent curb weight and near perfect weight distribution. This car was released as the 240SX in the USDM after recieving a larger (normally aspirated) engine. Popular modifications include the Sil80 mod (Silvia S13 frontend, 180SX backend) and the OneVia (vice versa.)
Several 180SX's were exported to Australia due to it's proximity to Japan and right-hand drive style.

How to aim one's car at a wall and miss it completely; drifting is the opposite of grip driving, which involves taking a corner without sliding. This can be done without any regard to horsepower, weight, or any other factors. Essentially this means any car can drift, however, some cars are more apt to powerslide than drift. Drifting originated in Japan, thus most cars used to drift are Japanese. Most of the cars used to drift are also usually RWD cars with FR layouts, as they are easier to drift than AWD cars, FWD cars, or RWD cars with MR layouts. However, other drivetrains are used for drifting by different people, as driving styles vary from person to person. Some common cars used to drift are the Nissan Silvia, the Nissan 350Z, the Mazda RX-7, and the Toyota Supra.
Drifting is not for the faint of heart, the poor, or those who are nursing, pregnant, or may become pregnant. If you have trouble experiencing any epic, you may not wish to try to drifting, as it will have a sudden spike in epic if done correctly.

A lightweight sports car that Toyota manufactured in 1984-87 and had a cult following in Japan. This car was introduced to America as a rear-wheel drive Corolla, where it didn't become popular until a couple of things happened. One of those things would be drifting, the other is Initial D, a show from Japan that combined computer animation and Japamese Animation(Anime). The downside of the newfound popularity for these cars is that too many minors without money want one.
That guy replaced his rear axle on his AE86 today. Tomorrow he will use it to make little Anime-freak kids jealous.
