One of the main characters from "The Hunger Games" , a trilogy written by Suzanne Collins, a genius. Peeta is the 2nd tribute from District 12 to compete in the Hunger Games, a sadistic game made to entertain the people of the Capitol. Peeta is in love with Katniss Everdeen, the main character of the series, and she doesn't deserve him at all. Peeta is sweet, loving, kind-hearted, brave, strong, and sexy. In other words, Peeta Mellark is what every girl wishes a real boy could be.

The female protagonist in the Hunger Games. She ends up being the Mockingjay and starts the rebellion against the Capitol. She is in love with Peeta Mellark and for a short while in a love triangle with Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne. She ends up with Peeta. Katniss loves her sister, Prim, very much. Katniss is shown to be very strong, good at archery, and hunting.

In Suzanne Collins's 'The Hunger Games', Panem, formerly known as North America, is a country split into 14 districts. Districts 1-13, and the Capitol.
The Capitol rules Panem.
District 13 was apparently destroyed in the first rebellion against the Capitol.
This left only 12 disticts under the Capitol.
Panem comes from "Panem et circenses" which means "bread and entertainment", this is a metaphor of political creation of public approval.
