| 1. | American Bulldog | ||
|
True grit. True devotion. True love. These tributes are used often to describe the American Bulldog -- a hardy, athletic, all-purpose working dog. The American Bulldog is a loving family companion, good with children and other pets, yet at the same time, fearlessly determined. It has been known to display heroic acts of courage in protecting its master. The American Bulldog has also been used to hunt everything from squirrel to bear, and has been trained to drive cattle and guard stock from predators. The American Bulldog should be evaluated as a working dog, and exaggerations or faults should be penalized in proportion to how much they interfere with the dogs ability to work.

Bulldogs in England were originally working dogs who drove and caught cattle and guarded their masters' property. At one time, the breed was used in the grueling sport of bull baiting. With the outlawing of the sport in England in 1835, the original type of Bulldog disappeared from Britain and was replaced with the less athletic dog we now know as the English Bulldog. Yet the original Bulldog was preserved by immigrants who brought their working dogs with them to the American South. By the end of World War II, the last remnants of the working English Bulldog were disappearing in the U.S. Thanks to the breeding programs of John D. Johnson and Allen Scott, the breed was brought back from the brink of extinction. |

| 3. | Bulldog douche | ||
|
a certain variety of young white person who hangs out at bars often named "Bulldog" or "Bulldog's" or some similar variation. A Bulldog douche invariably presents a bland façade and a distinct lack of curiosity about anyone even slightly dissimilar to him-or-herself. The Bulldog douche is for the most part humorless, except when participating in the jocular restating of inside jokes. For Bulldog douches, people of another age, race, or socio-economic class are invisible, except when they are participating in social justice projects, which they do with much passion and self-righteousness. The Bulldog douche has a very bright future, and the glare coming off it can obscure almost anything a Bulldog douche does not, or cannot, see. There's no way in hell I am going out with you to The Bulldog and hanging out with all those Bulldog douches!

| 4. | English Bulldog | ||
|
"The Bulldog is a breed with characteristically wide shoulders and a matching head. There are generally thick folds of skin on a Bulldog's brow, followed by round, black, wide-set eyes, a short muzzle with characteristic folds called "rope" above the nose, with hanging skin under the neck, drooping lips, and pointed teeth. The coat is short, flat and sleek, with colors of red, fawn, white, brindle (mixed colors, often in waves or irregular stripes), and piebald. more...
In the US, the size of a typical mature male is about 55-60 pounds and that for mature females is about 45 pounds for a Standard English Bulldog. In the United Kingdom, the breed standard is 55 pounds for a male and 50 pounds for a female. While some canine breeds have their tails cut or docked soon after birth, Bulldogs are one of very few breeds whose tail is naturally short and curled." About half the bulldogs you will meet will be fine, but the other half are true terrors and should be put out of their misery. Over-bred and over-priced, they'll hardly be able to breath, can hardly play, have sensitive stomachs and skin, deformed teeth, a weird curled in tail, and a horrible habit of rubbing their netherlands all over your wall... much like a bear scratches his back. Combine that with horrible gas, and you wonder why God continues to let these things exist. |

| 6. | Doofus | ||
|
Any breed of large, mean looking dog such as an American Bulldog, Pitbull, Staffordshire Terrier, etc. These dogs are known for brute strength and tough looking appearance, however they are really just loveable little goofs. Danielle: I was walking the dog this morning and I saw another Doofus in the neighborhood, except he was solid white.
