look up any word:
1. New York Jets
Formed in 1960 as a member of the AFL, the originally called themselves the Titans and were stuck being NY's 2nd rate team (behind the Giants). They turned it around in the late 1960s, with Joe Namath at quarterback. In 1968, they shocked the world (and the Colts) with an amazing win in Super Bowl III to capture their only title and to give the AFL credibility in its waning moments. Were a medicore franchise for many years afterward, with no playoff berths in the 1970s and just 5 from 1980-1997. In 1998, they assembled a Super Bowl worthy team, but were unable to win in the playoffs. The following 2 years, they were in the playoff hunt, but collapsed in December to miss the postseason. Have been a decent frachise recently, with 3 playoff berths in the last 5 years, but struggled with injury and were dismal in 2005.
"And Joe Namath lives up to his guarantee, the New York Jets have stunned everyone with a 17-6 victory to capture the world championship."
