The act of listening to identify the actor playing a voice-only role in an animated television series or film, video game, commercial, movie trailer, or other genre where the specific role of the actor is uncredited or unknown. This type of research is often corroborated by listening to known voice-over roles by the actor and then comparing them to the voice-over role in question. Avid voice chasers are often able to recognize the voices of popular voice actors within a few lines of script.

This term does not imply any sort of fanatical or otherwise harmful actions toward a specific actor or community of actors.
Recognizing his voice from previous roles, Jane was able to quickly identify Rob Paulsen as the announcer of a car commercial through voice chasing.

Voice chasing is being a fanatic of voice actors and prideing yourself on knowing all there is to know
Bob: "hey, Ricky I was just voice chasing"
Ricky: "find anything good out?"
Bob: "yeah, there holding another con next month"
