None of you dissing metal here know shit about metal. You're thinking of Grindcore and/or Nu Metal, they both suck balls and should die. When you say Heavy Metal is killing rock 'n' roll, then your only right if you're thinking of Nu Metal, which is true; it is. But most of your rock 'n' roll is metal, believe it or not.Led Zeppelin(sometimes), Guns n' Roses, Metallica, Def Leppard, Black Sabbath, Megadeth, AC/DC, etc, they're metal. When it comes to the whole satan thing, that's black metal, and that IS in fact, screaming, most of the time. "Bad" metal is not very common. The only metal that appears on shitty MTV is again, Nu Metal, thanks to NU metal and Nu Metal only is Rock 'N' Roll dying.
Look into Heavy Metal before you define it, and you wont be considered "Stupid". P.S To the guy who dissed Slipknot, your absolutely right(Except for its headbanging not "shaking"),They're Shit Heavy Metal) They don't deserve to headbang, they suck big ol' Elephantitis infected balls.

A very misunderstood form of music that actually takes lots of talent! It originated as a mix between the blues and hard rock. While not all agree, Black Sabbath is often credited as being the 1st heavy metal band. However they were some bands before them who had songs that could be considered early examples as Blue Cheer, Cream, etc. The darker sound of metal came by accident actually. Black Sabbath's guitarist Tony Iommi had worked at a sheet metal factory and on his last day of the job he had a freak accident, severing 2 fingertips on his right hand. Feeling like his music career was over, he was inspired by a fellow jazz musician to keep going. He then went on to find different ways to make artificial fingertips and used lighter strings to ease the pain on his 2 fingers while playing the guitar. He also down tuned the guitar. With a down tuned guitar and lyric themes inspired by horror movies the music had a heavier and darker sound. Since then bands such as Judas Priest just ditched the bluesy sound and it has evolved to many sub-genres, each with a different sound.

All you people who say that it's for emos, goth vampires, satan worshippers and think it's all grunts and screams and guys dressed like women are ignorant! Do some damn research before you judge it. I used to love rap and and hated metal for those stereotypes. I was an ignorant prick like all of you. Then rap just got stupid with lyrics about meaningless crap so I decided to listen to rock which eventua... |

| 6. | Heavy Hands | ||
|
Used to describe someone who punches very hard. You will hear this allot in combat sports like kick boxing or MMA. Side Note: The bones in your body lay down more and more calcium deposits the more trauma they are exposed to. This makes the bones more dense. The bone just gets stronger and stronger. People who punch for a living very well may actually have 'heavier' hands than a normal person. Did you see how easily he knocked him out? He must have some heavy hands. I'd hate to have to fight him.
