253. Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide
Dexromethorphan Hydrobromide (DM) is the the cough suppressant ingredient in most over the counter ( OTC ) cough medicines. It was introduced back in the late '60s as a substitute for codiene, which was the the usual, frequently abused cough suppressant ingredient at the time (such as in Robitussin AC, which was a combination of alcohol and codiene). DM is actually an analog of an opiate ( Meaning that it was engineered from opiates), but does not register as an opiate, nor does it have any of the usual opiate characterictics, such as anesthesia, sedation or physical withdrawl. So, if you're looking for an opiate high, you are looking in the wrong place. Technically, it's molecular structure has been changed so much that its closest chemical cousin is actually Phenylcyclidine (PCP), but is little closer to Ketamine in it's effects. In the recreational sense, its an extremely powerful disassociative hallucinogen of such potency that I would easily put it in the same catagory of strength with LSD and mushrooms ( In fact , in some cases, and doses, I would consider it to be more powerful, but thats just me. Also, I had the privilege of getting most of the LSD in my life shipped from Haite Street in San Francisco, so I know good LSD...), but with noticably different effects. I really could go on for pages and pages with what I have researched, experienced and tested with this drug, but for lack of space and the fact that I don't want to have to write for ten pages or more, the...

254. Indiana
The Hoosier State. The Crossroads of America. A quaint Midwest/Great Lakes State that has just as many nice areas as cornfields and manufacturing plants. Indianapolis is the capital and largest city, and 12th largest in the U.S. No other city in Indiana comes even remotely close to being rivaled in size, culture and commerce. Other population centers are in the Chicago suburbs, Fort Wayne, South Bend-Mishawaka and Evansville. Indiana is fairly diverse with both rich and poor communities and in between. The town of Carmel, a suburb of Indianapolis, is probably the state’s nicest and most affluent and fastest growing, but the city of Gary--near Chicago--is the epitome of rust belt decline, grime and grit and urban decay.

To say that Indiana is a hick state is hogwash. It has no more hicks than any other state. Most of them live generally south of Bloomington. There are also a number of hicks of Kentucky descent in the Indianapolis area. The state's 6.5 million Hoosiers (14th in population) are generally average people who live in small towns, sizeable communities and their suburbs. Most Hoosiers live within just a few hours drive from large Midwest metropolitan areas: Chicago, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Lousiville, St. Louis, Columbus and even Detroit. Very few states have that distinction. The Indianapolis area has tons of suburban soccer moms who live on cul-de-sacs, drive SUVs and hog the road. Hoosiers are generally conservative and often divided in loyalty between P...

256. Philippines
Philippines

A tropical archipelago comprised of 7,100+ islands, located just north of the equator, off the southeastern coast of Asia. It has an area of around 300,000 square kilometers, about the size of Italy and the US state of Arizona. It has three main island groups: Luzon in the north, Visayas in the middle, and Mindanao in the south. There are eleven major islands (larger than 2,000 square kilometers): Luzon (largest, about the same size as Iceland and the US state of Kentucky), Mindanao (second largest, about the same size as Hungary and the US state of Indiana), Samar, Palawan, Negros, Panay, Mindoro, Leyte, Cebu, Bohol, and Masbate (11th largest, about the same size as the US state of Rhode Island).

It has a population of about 92 million people (2008 estimates), speaking more than 80 different languages and dialects, the largest of which are Tagalog, Cebuano, Ilocano, Ilonggo, Bicolano, Kapampangan, Pangasinense, Waray-Waray, Chavacano, Tausug, Zambaleno, Aklanon, Hamtikanon, Ibanag, Maranao, and Maguindanaon. Almost all these 80+ languages belong to the Malayo-Polynesian branch of the Austronesian ethno-linguistic family. The Philippines has a relatively high literacy rate, at more than 92%. Majority of Filipinos have at least a basic working knowledge of English. About 82% of the population is Roman Catholic. Protestants, Muslims, Buddhists, Taoists/Confucianists, Hindus, and people belonging to indigen...

257. Dirty South
The southeastern United states that were once known the Confederate States of America. This falls into different categories though as follows.

The Upper South:

Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Arkansas. The term Upper South was often used to refer specifically to the Confederate states that did not secede until after the attack on Fort Sumter

The Deep South:

South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas. These are the seven states that seceded from the United States before the firing on Fort Sumter and the start of the American Civil War, and originally formed the Confederate States of America.

Today the Southern United States of America is usually seen as follows:

The Carolinas, Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Florida

However, when people reefer to the "Duurty South" they typically refer to the deep
South. With that being said it should be noted that the upper south is quite dirty as well. West Virginia is almost never seen as the south now and days but more of Border-line Midwest or East Central United States of America. This also applies to Kentucky and sometimes Tennessee if your one of those assholes leaving bullshit on urban dictionary when you need to go back to school and learn basic geography.

The Southern United States is well known for:

1) High or higher obesity rate than the rest of the nation. However Saint Louis, MO did to...

258. Park Slope
Park Slope, Brooklyn, is an otherwise unremarkable residential neighborhood which, historically and up until fairly recently, was home to mostly ethnic-Catholic working class families (Irish, Italian, Puerto Rican). Although many of the white working class families relocated to Staten Island and New Jersey during the "White Flight" of the 1950's and 60's, the neighborhood managed to retain its family-oriented character throughout the 1970's and 80's despite claims by outsiders that the area was "blighted" and in desperate need of "revitalization."

Some time during the late 1980's and 90's, Park Slope wound up as a prototype of "Modern Urban Living" for WASP-ish, hippie-influenced, liberal-arts school graduate, spoiled suburban children of the baby-boomer generation (i.e. "Yuppies"), inspired by television and movies, who envisioned Park Slope's quaint tree-lined streets as a real-life Sesame Street set, perfect to raise children among other like-minded individuals in an urban setting. As one Yuppie describes, the idea of having "chance encounters" on the street with other Yuppie acquaintances identical to herself excited her and influenced her decision to move to Park Slope.

Nowadays, the pre-gentrification families native to Park Slope have almost completely been either priced out or bought out, to be replaced by outsiders willing to pay multiple times the amount of rent for the same apartments simply for the right to say they live in "Park Slope." Those native...
