1. Subcontractor Estimating
The practice of project cost estimation based on the weight and/or thickness of the construction plans not on content. Also acompanied by the phrase: "What spec. book?"
This term transponds all fields of construction.
Estimator 1: Looks like the plans weigh 10 pounds.
Estimator 2: Alright based on subcontractor estimating this one will cost 1 Million. Send in the bid.
Estimator 1: What about the spec. book?
Estimator 2: What spec. book? Just send it in already!
2. subbie
A term used in the construction industry for a subcontractor.
Hows John these days?

3. drug sub
a building subcontractor whose business is financed by the drug trade and money laundering activities, primarily accomplished by using illegal drug money, paying labor (usually illegal labor) with the illegal cash and not deducting the payroll charges from gross income; net income is overstated and the overage is taxed resulting in the illegal drug money suddenly becoming legal and "laundered"; to accomplish this he must have legitimate customers that he usually steals from honest hardworking subcontractors.
Joe the Plumber's business went bankrupt because he was competing against Trey's Waterworks; Trey is a drug sub.
4. Scrapey man
A person employed to fill the gaps between bricks in apartment buildings, using concrete and a trowel, in order that a building may be painted. A subcontractor with poor sense of timing - 6 am on New Year's day, Saturday mornings at 7, or late at night are his hours of work. Once finished with this job, he uses noisy power tools to further annoy sleepy residents. If it gets really annoying, one should contact Gerrn Shirt Man.
I was late for work yesterday, because Scrapey man woke me up ay 5 am!

5. Harkey

Bobabeare's in contract talks again
7. Dryerbox
A metal receptacle installed behind the clothes dryer in rough framing of a new home. The receptacle facilitates the connection and collection of the flex transition hose (the 4" hose between the wall and the dryer) in the cell of the wall instead of on the floor. It is marketed to the builder as a way to save space in the laundry room, reduce the fire hazard by minimizing the potential for the hose to get crushed and saves energy by also minimizing any potential for the hose to get kinked or crushed. A trademarked name of an HVAC product generally installed in new construction by the AC subcontractor.
That dryer fire could of been avoided if the homeowners had a Dryerbox installed.
