A borough of New York city that's connected by the Verrazano through Brooklyn.
Most of the people who live on Staten Island are from Brooklyn and most are Italian. I live on the South Shore and alot of people here do own nice cars and possessions but that doesn't mean they dont work for them. I moved to Staten Island from a predominately Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn and its pretty similiar except things here are a little bit more separated which is a good thing, your not so on top of each other. But I keep hearing the same thing "all Staten Island is is slutty girls, spiky haired boys, tanning, and guidos." This is true for some people but not everyone, some people go tanning but you can't tell me that Staten Island's the only place where people go tanning, boys spike their hair but thats the trend here just like the trends there are in California or wherever. Some girls are slutty but that doesn't have anything to do with where we live it's just the way they are, there are slutty girls everywhere so you can't just blame that on here. And the main thing, Italians. Im Italian, I speak Italian, my family speaks Italian, I know alot about my Italian culture and so do all of the other kids on Staten Island that are Italian. Just because you show your culture doesn't mean you think your better than everyone else or that your showing off. The way we speak is not a Staten Island accent its a New York city accent. Growing up in Brooklyn and Staten Island I have a very heavy accent, it doesn't mean im stupid or incapable of intelligence it means that the place where I live affected the way I speak just like it does in other places like the South. Peoples perceptions of Staten Island are pretty much always negative and thats probably because some of the people who live here give it a negative reputation. Staten Island is actually a great place to live its located where the is more culture than you can imagine, its very populated for a small island but the houses and everything around it is nice, theres parks, boardwalks, museums, shopping and other things for the people here. I wouldnt reccomend coming here on vacation because its a place where there is not much to see but despite peoples opinions Staten Island is part of New York City just as much as Brooklyn,Queens, the Bronx, and the City (Manhatten). I would never move off of Staten Island even as an adult because it has that Brooklyn feel I grew up with with a little bit of the suburbs. If you ask me we got the best of both worlds.

I am new to the borough.. So far it has been okay. Quiet around were I live. I guess considered the Northern Part. There are some things that remind me of the South Bronx my old home. But hey so far so good...
Staten Island Peaceful home.
Or the like the girl from models in the bronx spelled it State Island.
White people "acting black" interesting to watch.
Good looking people.
Nice houses.
And yeah the Mall is what catches my eye on the weekends.

Very segregated. Very few from the North will venture out to the South and vice versa. The mall acts an an epicenter for the two. The South is mostly White and the North is all the other ethnicity with a few in the middle.

Out of all the places in NY, I feel this is the most racist area I've ever been. Unbearable rude, spoiled, narrow minded, stuck up people. Everyone I've met has the same attitude and manners as Jersey Shore, slightly calmer.

It is a very closed off area, you only see residents on staten island. No one from other boroughs of NY.

Everyone that wants to fit in wear North Face, the black puffy ugly jacket. Parking is good but if you park in front of someone's house they will curse you out. Even though they have a corner house and a double driveway.

South Shore is deserted you will not meet people walking around. If you do, you don't want to be associated with them.

Public transportation is HORRIBLE. A commute to midtown, ny can be almost 2hrs one way!!!
Staten Island:

"I wear North Face, so I'm going to act conceded"

"Don't you dare park your car in front of my house, even though that spot is considered public and I do not own it. Even though it is common elsewhere in NY."

"I'm going to make racist comments to the minorities because they are clearly out numbered by living here."

"How did the bottom of your car get so scratched up?!?"
"That's normal, a pothole is the same size as the tire."

One of the five burroughs in the state of New York. Plagued with cloned girls and "gangsta" boys, Staten Island becomes less and less bearable to live in. There is virtually nothing to do on Staten Island so getting fubar is the only logical thing to do to keep busy. The good thing about Staten Island is the easy comute to Manhattan without having to drive which makes going out to clubs and bars on the weekend an easy task.
Staten Island is still better then toxic Jersey.

The armpit of New York City. Perpetually stuck 20-30 years behind the rest of NYC. Insane drivers, shitty public transportation (at least compared to the rest of the city).

Location of the world's biggest garbage dump. Full of pothead teenagers who somehow can't afford to pay off the tickets on the brand new car mommy and daddy bought 'em. People there tend to have an Italian grandparent who was born in the U.S. but act like everyone in their family's in the Sicilian mob. Has the world's worst drivers: everyone's a roid-raged Jersey Shore wannabe, hopped up on Oxy, or 90 years old.

Half a million people, but about 4 movie theaters and two bookstores.

Basically, take the worst parts of Brooklyn and Jersey and you've got Staten Island.
Maybe not EVERYONE from Staten Island, but face it, if you live there, you know people just like this.
