A borough of New York city that's connected by the Verrazano through Brooklyn.
Most of the people who live on Staten Island are from Brooklyn and most are Italian. I live on the South Shore and alot of people here do own nice cars and possessions but that doesn't mean they dont work for them. I moved to Staten Island from a predominately Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn and its pretty similiar except things here are a little bit more separated which is a good thing, your not so on top of each other. But I keep hearing the same thing "all Staten Island is is slutty girls, spiky haired boys, tanning, and guidos." This is true for some people but not everyone, some people go tanning but you can't tell me that Staten Island's the only place where people go tanning, boys spike their hair but thats the trend here just like the trends there are in California or wherever. Some girls are slutty but that doesn't have anything to do with where we live it's just the way they are, there are slutty girls everywhere so you can't just blame that on here. And the main thing, Italians. Im Italian, I speak Italian, my family speaks Italian, I know alot about my Italian culture and so do all of the other kids on Staten Island that are Italian. Just because you show your culture doesn't mean you think your better than everyone else or that your showing off. The way we speak is not a Staten Island accent its a New York city accent. Growing up in Brooklyn and Staten Island I have a very heavy accent, it doesn't mean im stupid or incapable of intelligence it means that the place where I live affected the way I speak just like it does in other places like the South. Peoples perceptions of Staten Island are pretty much always negative and thats probably because some of the people who live here give it a negative reputation. Staten Island is actually a great place to live its located where the is more culture than you can imagine, its very populated for a small island but the houses and everything around it is nice, theres parks, boardwalks, museums, shopping and other things for the people here. I wouldnt reccomend coming here on vacation because its a place where there is not much to see but despite peoples opinions Staten Island is part of New York City just as much as Brooklyn,Queens, the Bronx, and the City (Manhatten). I would never move off of Staten Island even as an adult because it has that Brooklyn feel I grew up with with a little bit of the suburbs. If you ask me we got the best of both worlds.

The armpit of New York City. Perpetually stuck 20-30 years behind the rest of NYC. Insane drivers, shitty public transportation (at least compared to the rest of the city).

Location of the world's biggest garbage dump. Full of pothead teenagers who somehow can't afford to pay off the tickets on the brand new car mommy and daddy bought 'em. People there tend to have an Italian grandparent who was born in the U.S. but act like everyone in their family's in the Sicilian mob. Has the world's worst drivers: everyone's a roid-raged Jersey Shore wannabe, hopped up on Oxy, or 90 years old.

Half a million people, but about 4 movie theaters and two bookstores.

Basically, take the worst parts of Brooklyn and Jersey and you've got Staten Island.
Maybe not EVERYONE from Staten Island, but face it, if you live there, you know people just like this.

A borough of New York City. People that don't live here act as if a plethora of great activities is thrown in their fucking faces every weekend. Apparently being well-groomed (eyebrow waxing, etc.) is looked down upon by ignorant shitstains on society, and a "Staten Island accent" is inferior to any other accent, no matter how idiotic other accents may sound (such as a Southern accent, which is comparable to a deformed moose having sex with a frog). There is a large landfill that hasn't been in use since 2001, after the last of the September 11th debris was delivered. Yet, people that are oblivious of life in Staten Island continue to add definitions.
Two 70+ year old men having a conversation:

Man 1: "So where did you grow up?"

Man 2: "I grew up in Staten Island, New York."

Man 1: "Oh, I've heard that's not such a great place.Your life must have sucked pretty bad then, huh?"

Man 2: "Actually not in the slightest, I'm still happily married to my wife of 40 years, I have 3 children that all went through college with full scholarships and now they have their own families. How about you, where did you grow up?"

Man 1: "Oh I grew up in Arkansas."

Man 2: "Oh that sounds nice, how's your life been so far?"

Man 1: "...I got charged with 25 to life for murdering a prostitute after I robbed a bank, killed 3 police officers and highjacked a truck full of explosives...Luckily I fled the country though!"

Man 2: "Yeah! You define the word lowlife!"

AKA Garbage Dump.

Staten Island is a large garbage dump located South of Manhattan. All of the trash from Manhattan, Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, and some parts of New Jersey is transported there via the Staten Island Ferry, and dumped in a large pile in the center of the Island. This garbage then proceeds to rot, and can be smelled from the surrounding land masses.

The tribe of people that live there, known as Guidos, burrow into the piles of the garbage to form dwellings.
Martin: "What be that smell?"
Franklin: "Staten Island"
Martin: "Ew"
