A borough of New York city that's connected by the Verrazano through Brooklyn.
Most of the people who live on Staten Island are from Brooklyn and most are Italian. I live on the South Shore and alot of people here do own nice cars and possessions but that doesn't mean they dont work for them. I moved to Staten Island from a predominately Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn and its pretty similiar except things here are a little bit more separated which is a good thing, your not so on top of each other. But I keep hearing the same thing "all Staten Island is is slutty girls, spiky haired boys, tanning, and guidos." This is true for some people but not everyone, some people go tanning but you can't tell me that Staten Island's the only place where people go tanning, boys spike their hair but thats the trend here just like the trends there are in California or wherever. Some girls are slutty but that doesn't have anything to do with where we live it's just the way they are, there are slutty girls everywhere so you can't just blame that on here. And the main thing, Italians. Im Italian, I speak Italian, my family speaks Italian, I know alot about my Italian culture and so do all of the other kids on Staten Island that are Italian. Just because you show your culture doesn't mean you think your better than everyone else or that your showing off. The way we speak is not a Staten Island accent its a New York city accent. Growing up in Brooklyn and Staten Island I have a very heavy accent, it doesn't mean im stupid or incapable of intelligence it means that the place where I live affected the way I speak just like it does in other places like the South. Peoples perceptions of Staten Island are pretty much always negative and thats probably because some of the people who live here give it a negative reputation. Staten Island is actually a great place to live its located where the is more culture than you can imagine, its very populated for a small island but the houses and everything around it is nice, theres parks, boardwalks, museums, shopping and other things for the people here. I wouldnt reccomend coming here on vacation because its a place where there is not much to see but despite peoples opinions Staten Island is part of New York City just as much as Brooklyn,Queens, the Bronx, and the City (Manhatten). I would never move off of Staten Island even as an adult because it has that Brooklyn feel I grew up with with a little bit of the suburbs. If you ask me we got the best of both worlds.

The "forgotten" borough where the only thing besides the massive pot holes that kill teens from ages 16-19...is boredom. The borough of parks, trash, cemeteries, pizzarias and the "Zoo" . Our Zoo has four goats and a monkey...literally. The borough where one house can go down, and 37 can fit in its place, where the hair is high and the I.Q. is low. The place that has the "Mall," where the over-sexed and cake-faced tweens infest. There's one Barns 'n Noble bookstore (for those who dare to look away from their sidekicks) and a Target wayyyy in the back (where we sweep it underneath some rugs so people don't classify us a suburban lost cause.)
Mike: So what are we hittin up first?
Sam: Mall, movies...yeah that's it.
Mike: (sigh) Staten Island.
Sam: Yeah...Staten Island.

Staten island(North shore)-a growing diverse community, a little noisy, and hilly but O.K.
Staten island (South shore)- A area where mostly Italian-American kids think they are ghetto in spite of the fact that they are prileged and hate black people. They even makeup fake ass guido gangs (gasp!). When they are arrested by the cops for petite crimes like vandalizing property and shoplifting, they cry like little bitches. They live in 800K to million dollar mansions and drive BMW convertibles, SUV's, Hondas and Volkswagen Jettas to school while blasting rap, ironically. A place where parents pass on their "views" of the world to their upper middle class children. The parents all act like they are the shit, and talk with an annoying staten island guido accent.

One of the five boroughs of New York City. Often referred to as "The Forgotten Borough". Aptly named, as there is nothing to do in Staten Island, other than go to the Staten Island mall, or to one of the three movie theaters. Unlike Manhattan or any of the other boroughs, Staten Island is completely divided, the North Shore being the habitat of all African-American, Latinos/Hispanics, Irish, and race and nationality that is not Italian or Russian. The South Shore/Mid-Island is made up primarily of the aforementioned parties.

Speaking as an Irish, North Shore resident, the South Shore is filled with illiterate, close-minded, spoiled children. The "Staten Island" sterotype is completely because of those assholes. Unfortunately, all Caucasian inhabitants of Staten Island are supposed to have a thick Staten Island accent, which is like the retarded child of a New Jersey accent and a Brooklyn accent, tan to an unnatural color, usually orange, and gel the shit out of your hair, if you are a man, or use hairspray like there's a fucking endless supply of it.

The North Shore, however, is known for it's crime, though I would much rather live two blocks from Jersey Street than in Tottenville. This may not come as a shock to some of you, but the KKK has an active chapter located right in Tottenville.

Please, if on a visit to Staten Island, take my advice and get out as quickly as you came. Maybe you can still go to Brooklyn.
Intelligent Staten Islander: Hello, I was wondering if I could ask what time it is?

Guido/Guidette: Ummmmm, n0. I d0nt t4lk to p30pl3 l1ke u.

Intelligent Staten Islander: I'm astounded and scared of the fact that my IQ is slowly decreasing every moment I spend talking to you.

Guido/Guidette: IQ? n0w u g0nna t4lk sh1t?

Intelligent Staten Islander: How did I end up in this cesspool? My God, why have you forsaken me?

Yes its known as the forgotten borough, Yes some people have tanning issues, and there are italian people here but there are also russian, african american, asian, spanish, irish, german, and many other cultures here to. To generalize a place without having an open mind is considered steryotyping. True life staten island was a terriable example of how people live here. North Shore and South Shore are deffinatley different but the people can be considered the same. The south shore is more suburbs and the north more urbanized. People on the north and south shore both have jobs or dont and we are all suffering with the economy today so to say that south shore people are rich is just ignorant. Staten Island like any other borough has its good parts and bad parts some people are less fortunate then others but hey thats life happens everywhere. Staten island honestly has nothing to do. Yes theres movie theaters (so old) and ice skating rinks that everyone went to for fun durning junior high (played out) and besides that theres nothing fun about this island. the mall is were people also go to just hang out and window shop which is rediculous.
Queens kid: Hey where you from?
Staten Island kid: Staten Island or the Island of Hell
Queens kid : Ha the forgotten borough

New York's colon.

Chock-full of little wiggers running around with their parents' credit cards. Well, the southern part, anyway.
John: Let's go look at some pathetic white kids trying to act black!

Mary: Shaolin, yo.

A few things need to be set straight here!

1. There are black people on Staten Island! It isn't all Italian.

2. There is no dump and hasn't been since 2001.

3. The air is seriously polluted but it doesn't smell.

4. There's five sections of Staten Island, the North Shore, the South Shore, the West Shore, Mid-Island, and the SI Mall.

5. All the black/hispanic/non-white people live on the North Shore (Above the highway). All the white people live in the other sections.

6. There are over 7 sets of project buildings on Staten Island.

7. There are very rough, and unsafe areas on Staten Island's North Shore.

8. There's three bus lines that go to Brooklyn and one to Jersey.

9. North Shore Staten Island people don't travel to the other parts of SI and only see them at the Mall and the Ferry.

10. "Guidos" from the South Shore are scared of the North Shore!
Black Dude from SI: "yea i'm from Staten Island "
Bronx Person: "Damnn..i thought only white ppl live dere"
