The Dodge SRT-4 one of the fastest Dodges ever made. Even with that mind-blowing acceleration - seen in recent Dodge history only by the Viper, Spirit R/T Road and Track, and Daytona R/T - the Dodge Neon SRT-4 started in 2003 at under $20,000, making it cheaper than a base model Stratus (the 2004 and 2005 are under $21,000). While only 3,000 per year were originally projected for construction, production in 2004 reportedly reached 13,000 per year; exact figures were not released. Chrysler makes a profit on the SRT-4, despite the mind-blowing performance, presumably because it is so closely related to the Neon - itself a performance leader.

SRT-4 is based on the standard SRT name given, confusingly enough, to vehicles modified by the PVO Group - that's Performance Vehicle Operations. SRT originally stood for "Street and Racing Technology" but now stands for "Strip, Road, and Track" - similar to the old R/T designation which seems to have been abandoned. (There is a second SRT4, the Dodge Caliber SRT4, which produces 300 horsepower but is heavier; 0-60 on the Neon version is quicker but the quarter mile is slower.) 2004 models increased the power, added a limited slip rear differential option, and raised the price by just $500 - keeping the SRT-4 a bargain. 2005 models added a color and made other very minor changes. Car and Driver: 0-60 in 5.6 seconds, top speed 153 mph Sport C... |

the SRT-4 is not better or worse, just different from other cars. Most of the trash talkers are just jealous of what others have... Get a life and find something better to do than trash talk other peoples cars, in this case the Dodge SRT-4. Think before you speak and research before you write. Otherwise everyone else will know just how dumb you really are.

Manufactured by Dodge from 2003-2005, based on the Neon/SX 2.0 body style. There was very little promoting done for the SRT-4 so in all fairness people have some very common misconceptions about it.

Dodge pulled the SRT-4 engine out of a PT Cruiser GT, the motor also saw production in the Mexican Stratus R/T. The PT-GT had a respectable 210 bhp as did the Stratus. Dodge tweaked the PCM and fuel system to bump the cars output to 215 bhp, but, Sport Compact car put a bone stock SRT-4 on a Dyno in 2003 and found 223 wheel horsepower. It is a well known fact that Dodge had underrated the vehicles power production to reduce insurance costs. In 2004-2005 vehicles a Quaiffe LSD was added as well as larger fuel injectors. Which boosted the SRT-4's output to 230 bhp, another magazine test by Car and Driver showed that the 2004 SRT-4 had dynoed in at 233 wheel horsepower. Which makes the SRT-4 the fastest FWD production car in the world and the fastest Production car for under 20,000 dollars. So please stop spamming garbage about this car, I challenge ANYONE who hates the SRT-4 to find a FASTER PRODUCTION CAR FOR UNDER 20,000 dollars. Instead of hating on a car, why not learn something about it. We owe Dodge for building the machine that they did for the price we paid. Nuff said, later. TURBOCHARGED FTW! |

Essentially a Dodge Neon with a turbocharger bolted onto a 2.4L inline 4. Although quite quick, this trim is harassed due to the fact it is built on a Neon. Adding a large spoiler and factory body kit, muffler-less exhaust, turbo and lack of interior sound deadening makes this car both quite fast and quite absurd. This car's owners are absolutely positive it is an SRT-4, and not a Neon, even though it's plagued with many of the shitty Neon traits like rough ride (made even more rough by stiffer suspension), noisy interior, boring sounding engine and poor build quality. Either way you look at it, it's NOT an SRT-4, it's a Neon. Owner: My SRT-4 is fast. I can pull a 13.8 second 1/4 mile.
Bystander: But it's still a Neon. Owner: No, it's an SRT-4. Bystander: {Shakes head} |

A pathetic, hideous, and vile excuse for a performance automobile. Dodge is so lame that they have to turbocharge the sh*t out of a 2.4 to get somewhere in the neighborhood of 230 horse. Regardless of Chrysler's inherent and incurable shortcomings, the SRT-4 is the fastest production FWD in the world. That said, this doesn't mean that anybody has to like it. "Wow. Did you see that Dodge Neon SRT-4 trying to do doughnuts in the school parking lot last night!? Doesn't the idiot driving it know it's FWD!? What an ass clown!"
