severna park is the epitome of stuck up. we all act modest, but we know we are the best...even though most parkies aren't. it's a place every parent wants their child to grow up. we all know that we are snobby sons of bitches but that doesn't stop us from letting everyone and their mother know it too. we walk around with our popped collars, abercrombie and fitch, and lacrosse sticks like it's our job. the number one person in our lives is ourself. you mean nothing to us. no one messes with a parkie. cuz if you mess with one of us, you mess with all of us. we are the great parkies and you can only wish you were one of us.
a kid wants a cookie at the store. it's almost dinnertime. if he lives anywhere but severna park, his mom says no and thats it. if he lives in severna park, his mom says no, he persists, and so his mom buys him not only a package of cookies but takes him to the local candy store to stuff himself silly. and thats just the way we roll. no one says no to us.
Small suburban town on the Severn River. South of Baltimore and a tad north of Maryland's capital Annapolis. It began as a just a trainstation stop on the Baltimore-Annapolis Railroad. Originally just a farm or two, the town really began in 1914 when Severn school was founded as a preparatory school for the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis. Much has changed since then. Severn School has become a private college preparatory school whose main attraction to many is simply the ability to tell people that they or his/her son/daughter attends/attended it. Though, of course, it is not all bad- the large majourity of the people are nice. But those who are not more than make up for the rest. The school is the reason for the stereotype that Severna Park is a snobbish town- many of its students are in fact commuters. Just down the street is the Severna Park High School- a more accurate sample of the average Parkie.
The present Severna Park features 11 majour residential communities, 3 majour roads, a coffee shop, 6 churches, a coffee shop, 5 gas stations, 5 schools, a coffee shop, a fine paved running trail from Annapolis to BWI, 3 banks, 2 liquor stores, and a coffee shop.

I was raised in Severna Park. Sadly, we do believe we are rich. However, once you grow up and see a little more of the world you realize we are pseudo-snobs. The houses in Potomac and Bethesda are about 3x the size and 10x the price. Their kids go to Georgetown prep and are related to the power elite. Severna Park is a glorified upper-middle class town that really, really wants to be something its not.
Severna Park, maybe one day you will be Bethesda.
A poor man's Laguna Beach. It's a pretty nice place to live; a nice family town on a really nice river. It's an all-white, preppy, conservative haven. Michael Jordan almost moved there. Pat Sajak does. The Bawltimer Ravens owner lives here and graduated from SPHS. That brings up the worst thing about SP - It's a suburb of Bawltimer.
So, unfortunately for the kids that grow up there, even though they think it's the hottest place ever, it's far, far from being the ultimate rich white la-la-land that they would have you believe. To say that it pales in comparison to Beverly Hills, Laguna Beach, Highland Park (Dallas), Greenwich, Westchester, etc. is a gross understatement.
But, hey, if you've been sentenced to life in Bawltimer, then Severna Park is the best place to be. Sorry, but Bawltimer County is WAY too Jewish. ;)
Hott pretty blonde girl from SP - "Like, I totally live in the kitschyest place in the world"
Me - "No way, I'm from Beverly Hills too"
Hott preppy blonde girl from SP - "Umm, no sorry, but I was like talking about Severna Park?"
Me - "Has anyone ever told you that you'd look absolutely amazing on camera?"
Severna Park is an exciting town loacated about 15 minutes from Baltimore, and 10 minutes from Annapolis. When in Severna Park, one can find a lot to do. For example, Severna Park has several beaches, a pool hall, a bowling ally, many country clubs and a putt-putt golf course, the Severn River and the Magothy River, cofee shops, religious groups, tennis courts everywhere, and much, much more. Something else to do that's popular in SPark is to go to Bill Batemans on Monday night which is wing night. You will see basically the whole high school there! Also, in the summer you can easily go out on your boat or jet ski, do some wake-boarding, go to Dobbyns island and chill, and eat lots of crabs and crab-dip, crab-cakes, etc. Crabs are SP's thing. SP is famous for it's amazing lacrosse, feild hockey, soccer, and more recently the basketball. SPark Highschool is also the #1 high school in the county, academically. Severna Park is also home to the #1 Community College in the nation, Anne Arundel Community College. Which was ranked number one by the government, and George Bush recently visited this college. Overall, SP is a great place to go if you want to have something to do, or if you want to go to the best high school in the area.
Some common misconceptions are that SPARKIES are stuck up and rich. Well, everywhere that you go where there's some money, you will meet some rich snobs. SP has some, as does everywhere. But there are a lot of nice people in SP and to generalize them all as rich snobs is a huge mistake. Yes, daddy pays for a lot of kids stuff, but theres also a lot of kids who pay for their own stuff. Don't judge but what people have, get to know them.
boring but hey, its better than france.
sp revolves around chillers and lacross
this is just in response to the person who stated that Anne Arundel Community College is in SP. I'm sorry friend but you obviously don't know your surrondings very well because the college is down College Parkway... in ARNOLD. Although everything was acurate about the Park, I just wanted to clear that up because well you make the rest of us parkies look stupid because you can't distinguish SP from Arnold.
ps. Severna Park is full of rich kids, great athletes, moms who drive SUVs and go tanning daily, great small businesses, skaters, druggies, dorks, and snobs. You name it we got it. But mostly we stand out with our popped collars, bmw's, and kids spending mommy and daddy's money. I'm not a fan, but I've lived here my whole life. Can't diss a place unless you've lived here, so all y'all from other schools have nothing to say, cuz you're not stuck here!!
get up, practice a sport, shower, pop that collar, and hop on your boat for a day of wakeboarding and tanning ... welcome to severna park life
THANKS TO PEOPLE WHO POST THINGS LIKE "Home of the severna park falcons who kickass in every sport, especially field hockey.
Rich snobs are the best, and we know it. Don't try to steal our side pony tail posers. They wish they could be like us and know that a non-parkie's life costs the same as our rolex!" EVERYONE OUTSIDE OF SEVERNA PARK HATES US. THANKS TO YOU WE HAVE A SNOBBY REPUTATION. SO GET OVER YOURSELVES..WE MIGHT BE RICH AND SMART AND GOOD AT some SPORTS..BUT THERE'S PLENTY OF PEOPLE FROM OTHER PLACES WHO ARE THE SAME WAY. SO STOP ACTING LIKE PRICKS AND THEN MAYBE PEOPLE WILL STOP GIVING YOU CRAP FOR BEING THE WAY YOU ACTUALLY ARE.
nice people do live in severna park..and we are extremely ashamed of those snobby ones.
