Scene kids wear tight jeans, band T-Shirts like Escape The Fate or My Chemical Romance. They wear converse or checkered vans, hair that is parted to one side covering one eye(normally black or really light blonde) belts with studs in them(normally white). Scene kids are NOT emo but have basically adopted the emo style without taking the whole (OMG my life is so horrible /cry nobody loves me /cuts wrist) type of bullshit.
Scene Kid - dude aren't my tight jeans, checkered vans, and Escape the Fate Tshirt so cool.

Since the 2007 downfall of the Scene trend, there are less Scenesters out there. However, it has been picked up by the younger generation. These kids are usually 13-16. Sadly, you may also see 10-12 year olds trying it out, then failing epically. A lot of things are different, yet the foundation of the Scene is mostly the same. MySpace isn't as full of them, but if you look hard enough, you cna come across a few. The msot legitement Scenesters aren't well-known around the interweb.
The first steps of the Scene, sometimes labeled ‘elektrikk’ evolved into ‘br00tal’, which now has come to what I’d call “new age scenesters”.

MUSIC:
2008 = screamo, post-hardcore, electronic/dance, acoustic
AS OPPOSED TO
06/07 = deathcore, grindcore, hardcore
2005 = pop punk, emo

HAIR:
2008 = teased, less crazy and dead bird-like, brown gaining popularity
06/07 = teased to dead bird-like state, strictly black or white blonde
2005 = short, choppy, black

STYLE:
2008 = standard vans/converse, skinny jeans, band t-shirts, graphic/vintage, plastic jewelry, bandanas
06/07 = skin-tight black skinny jeans, black skirts+leggings, plastic jewelry
2005 = (same as 2008 scenesters)

MAKE UP:
2008 = dark eyeliner, colored or no eye shadow
06/07 = black eyeliner, cat-eye or winged out, black eye shadow, fake moles
2005 = (same as 2008 scenesters)

ATTITUDE:
2008 = resembling normal people. some are conceited and pull a “SUP IM BETTA DEN U” move
06/07 = total elitist snobs. Arrogant, cocky, stuck-up, etc. Only talk to people as amazing & trendy
2005 = more snobby than new age scenesters, but not as bad as the br00tal kids.

Many bystanders claim that the Scene is dead and that anyone who still continues to follow it is a try-hard/poseur. However, this is not always the case. Scene is much like the Punk & Goth styles. It hits its peak, witnesses the best of times, but they decline, and fall into near extinction. Same with the Scene trend. The main followers have grown up to be 16, 17, and 18 year olds who no longer take part in compulsive hair coloring or MySpace whoring. However, the younger generation continues to keep it alive for a few last breaths of air.
I dont think I need an example. That whole Scene comparison thing should be good enough.

Scene kids have a long history. Originally, they listened to indie music and the guys wore track jacket and had long dyed black hair. The girls wore jeans and band tees. As time went on, scene kids evolved. Now they are kids who listen to music described as "hardcore," "grindcore," or any other number of "cores." They go to "shows," or concerts, on a regular basis but usually not to see famous bands. Common features of each are as follows:

Guys:
Tight girl pants

Tight shirts made for little kids

Shoes such as Van's slipons, anything MacBeth, "old school" Pumas or Nikes, or Adidas Sambas

Reverse mullets with one eye usually covered by hair

Hair dyed black with highlights of another color

Hoodies

Black eyeliner

Lip piercings

Ears that are gauged

Kiss other boys but aren't necessarily bisexual

Girls:

Band shirts or small tees

Rolled up girl pants

Purses with sequins

Hair usually dyed two colors

Short, choppy hair

Septum piercings

Monroe piercings

Eyebrow piercings

Usually have a pearl necklace

Consider Marilyn Monroe a role model

Both:

May be straightedge

Usually wear black or white bandanas

Strive to have knowledge of the most obscure bands

Use big words to appear intellectual

Greatly offended when called "scene" or "emo"

Listen to rap almost as much as the "cores"

Go to shows and throwdown or twostep

Hate skaters even though some may skate

Claim that everyone copied them

type in all lower case and never use punctuation except for periods orXreplaceXspacesXwithXupperXcaseXxs

Obsessed with:

Robots
Dinosaurs
Being a bandit
Being a gangsta
Ebonics
Arizona Ice Tea
Bands with annoyingly long names like "A Burst of Pain Ignites My Heart With Eternal Agony"
<3 instead of saying "I love you"
iPod
Synthesizers
Keyboards
Oversized sunglass or aviator's glasses
Myspace
Andy Warhol
The word HEART, spelled like that
Hollywood Undead
Indie movies
Spelling some words completely and abbreviating others
An example of a scene kid conversation on AIM:
XxHEARTattackxX: yo boo you going to the show tonite?
asXmyXHEARTXbleeds: oh you know it.a heartwell ending is playing with fear before the march of flames and recieving end of sirens.
XxHEARTattackxX: oh fo real? i <3 them.i <3 them a lot.
asXmyXHEARTXbleeds: i know.i cant wait to throwdown.
XxHEARTattackxX: hella yeah.did you hear my new song on myspace? its hollywood undead.
asXmyXHEARTXbleeds: they rock my socks.i <3 them.
XxHEARTattackxX: me too.i posted a pic of me wit my bandana on.
asXmyXHEARTXbleeds: sick.i took one with my pearls today
XxHEARTattackxX: werd.well i gotsta go.latta.
asXmyXHEARTXbleeds: kbye.

1)the word "scene" can refer to anyone who's into a particular type of music, usually emo, screamo, hardcore, metal, maybe indie, or punk of some sort, and the "scene" around it.
It is often used to refer to kids, mostly between the age range of 14 and 24, who listen to these types of music. Stereotypically, these kids have short often dark hair, often chopped up or hanging around their faces. They tend to go to a lot of concerts and listen to their favorite bands a lot. They often listen to small, obscure, or local bands no one else has ever heard of. They may also maintain a myspace where they often will post pictures of themselves. This whole movement used to be counter-culturish but now has become mainstream to a point. Some people tend to make unfair judgements about scene people, and while some of them could very well be jerks the majority of them probably aren't.
2) the culture and group of people surrounding a style of music
1) That kid goes to a lot of concerts. He's definitely scene.
2) The punk rock scene has gotten kinda stale lately. Too many of these bands sound the same.
