A compound of the terms 'rigid' and 'rugged' in the same way that ginormous is a compound of 'gigantic' and 'enormous'. Used increasingly in Europe to refer to footwear for outdoor activities that is hard-wearing but also technically supportive (usually referring to torsion). 'My new approach shoes are excellent. They're comfortable enough for every day wear and yet rugid enough for difficult terrain'
