The business process of terminating an entire geographic location. Sometimes done to move people to corporate headquarters, of as part of a bigger plan to outsource jobs, or a cost savings plan to move jobs to a cheaper region (e.g. India).
The first thing Jeremy did after joining the company, was to perform "regional cleansing" of the Redmond, Washington development group. Jeremy showed up Monday and told everyone that their jobs were being eliminated. They had one month to look for new jobs in other corporate locations.
