a genre of music brutally bashed on by spoiled filthy rich white "people", who don't seem to care about anyone but themsleves. not only did the whites take everything from the blacks, but now that many blacks want to create a music of their own and possibly get out of a life of pain and sometimes crime that they live, whites continue to hate the music for no reason. they seem to think they are better because they are rich and can have all the finest instruments. rappers mostly can only afford a beat-making machine, and use their mind to come up with brilliant poetry, using the half of their brain that the whites are missing. trying to be unique and use lyrics, a beat, and some background music, rather than be like the other types of "music" that use "instruments", whites continue to hate rap because it does not use any, and seem to think the ONLY music is made by instruments, which is not true. whites insult the stupid gangsta rappers and mainstream fags, not realizing there are actually lyricists who make phenominal lyrics. either the whites know nothing about true rap or they are just too dumb to comprehend anything else that what they think is cool. their tiny brains can ONLY appreciate rock and they think that anything that is not rock is shit. rock music is used to brainwash and disorient idiots like the whites. I cannot change rock-fans because they are too stupid and fucked up to agree, knowing that all this is true. curse the day rock "music" was born!!! I hope rap can save music!!!

The act of talking over a beat. The beat is usually around the same tempo as a rock song and is almost always computer generated, rarely is it spun from vinyl at a concert and even rarer is it produced by an actual percussion instrument. Rap started out as a form of lyrial poetry emphasizing the daily struggles of of life in the American urban society. Rap in the last 15 years, unfortunately, has broken down into a musical genre that has taken it's already limited creativity potential and dropped to an all time low level of ingenuity and creativity in its popular form. For example, Sean "Puffy" Combs and his partner in mediocracy "Mace" proved in the 90's that it is possible to make a success in Rap music without even being able to get past the 1st round of a local Rapping competition. A sad example of where Rap music is today is that many Rap Producers of this generation, such as Timbaland and others, produce music for a "Gangsta" Rapper on month and then Produce the same style of beats for Britney Spears the next month. Popular Rap however is not the only genre at fault. Rap, Rock and Pop music are all plagued with the dominance of Record Companies and the force feeding of music to the public as documented in the recent proven instances of Record Companies paying money to large radio station DJ's to play certain artists' records more than others and sometimes even saturating the listening audience with the same song over and over again which when they are drunk at the club suddenly comes on and everybody goes, "Hey I know this song!" And suddenly the beat and delivery that you knew was shit the first 5 times you heard it on the radio, suddenly relates to you because your drunk and it's familiar.
Puff Daddy sold a million records and even admitted he was a terrible rapper, which he was, further embarrassing the genre and lowering its credibility as a form of music.

Rhythm And Poetry.

Rhythm: the pattern of regular or irregular pulses caused in music by the occurrence of strong and weak melodic and harmonic beats.

And: used to connect grammatically coordinate words, phrases, or clauses along or together with; as well as; in addition to; besides; also; moreover.

Poetry: the art of rhythmical composition, written or spoken, for exciting pleasure by beautiful, imaginative, or elevated thoughts.
Rap is not a genre. It is a culture. People need to learn to accept this.

Poetry - sometimes - and often confused or misnamed as music which it is clearly NOT. SOME music contains rap lyrics. Gansta Rap, which is an attempt at offering machismo, fails to entertain the educated masses as they are aware that such garbage is only useful in making the misnomered "entertainer" clearly one of the GREATEST assholes that ever walked, flew over, swam on, or inhaled oxygen - or any life sustaining substance - from, ANY PLANET in the universe.
Generally, a waste of electrons.
Max: "What the fuck is that monkey doing swinging from that tree in the parking lot...and shooting that cop!!!And what is that pecular jibberish coming from his mouth?!"
Scott: "That's not a monkey dude, that's a gangsta rapper thinking he is entertaining us with his version of rap lyrics.

NO ONE seems to have noticed that rap stands for Rhythm and Poetry like R'n'B stands for rhythm and blues like 'the who' not that crap that they abuse the termanology with nowadays. the main reason i dont like rap is they do what everyone else does but in a more blatant way and thats STEAL MUSIC/IDEAS but they steal whole songs/melodies. and 90% of posters seem to dislike it so i will stand up for it and say yeh i dont really like most of it but to say ne think is 100% shit is just narrow minded and stupid. i and yes i do like some rap (immortal tehnique) but the main reason is that i am a drummer and a musician and in rap they use alot of samples and mutilate the organic sounds , yah this is just evoloution of music but personally I think its treading on your roots a bit. so thats why i like hip hopbecause it is based in a lot more funky way and is less repetitive so nice one to the boys from j5 jurassic 5 and if you think rap is all negative check out de la soul and you all know three is the magic number and lets face it who doesnt like that song, so there you do like some rap.

take it easy and dont be sleasy and check out the oxford dictionary too.
a rap-"so if you dont respect yourself dont expect respect from any one else". Immortal technique (big headed tw@ but some nice rhymes)
