look up any word, like bootylicious:
1. Repetitive And Pointless
Repetitive and Pointless = Rap

The most retarded type of music to ever hit the radio. Rap usually has no point and is just a bunch of random bullsh*t that has been manipulated to rhyme with the sentence before. I.E. fo shizzle my nizzle ... except for "my" none of those were actual words. This is how rap is made. The stupid people that make it, honestly, don't know what they are saying. So, they just ramble on about bitches, hoes, weed, being "gangsta's" and guns until they eventually steal some hard-working persons music and use it as a "beat" for their little pointless "raps". They do this because for the most part, rappers have no actual talent besides being able to find words that rhyme with bitch. Now to alot of people this definition will seem incorrect and "hatin'" to them I say, Go curl up in a dark, dark corner where no one can see you and die.
Rap. Anyone who likes rap is fat and has no friends.
2. rap
contrary to most of the shit posted here, i have supplied the ACTUAL definition:
Rapping is one of the elements of hip hop as well as the distinguishing feature of most hip hop music. It is a form of rhyming lyrics delivered rhythmically over a musical backdrop of sampling, scratching and mixing by DJs. Originally, rapping was called MCing and accompanied DJing.

Origins
Rapping (as a self-conscious artistic school) began as a variation on the toasting found in reggae, funk and dub music, mixed with influences from jazz-related performance poetry (Langston Hughes's album Weary Blues being an important example; the Beats also notable), radio DJ patter, and the tradition of playing the dozens. Among other predecessors were talking blues records and the work of artists such as James Brown and Parliament. The original rappers probably can be said to have been The Last Poets and Gil Scott-Heron with their recordings in the latter 1960s and earliest 1970s (such as Scott-Heron's famous "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" and "Whitey on The Moon"), but, slightly later, MCs (from "Master of Ceremonies") would improvise rhymes over the beats created by dancehall and club DJs. Early raps were frequently merely a sequence of boasts, or attempts to upstage the other MCs. See roots of hip hop music for earlier forms that...

3. Rap
Rap is a form of art. It is a genre of music which includes strong beats, singing, and often looping sounds.

Rap is often a thing people use to help concentrate*. Many athletes listen to rap before a sporting event to be able to concentrate.

Something needs to be realized about rap, and that is that it doesn't suck. People scattered across the internet are assuming the following:

"I haven't listened to rap..."

"I am assuming rap isn't good..."

"I am assuming that all it includes is talking really fast into a microphone..."

"Rap sucks."

Yet, these same, ignorant, people are the people who get upset when other people complain about rock and/or metal. They are saying that "Rap is a stoopidz from od "mosic," and generalizing that. Then, people say, "In my opinion...well, I don't know...rock is a good genre of music, but I kind of prefer rap..."

What happens now?

Hypocrisy

4. Rap
Horrible music. I have some good reasons for having this opinion too.

I used to be around rap all the time, and really.. it all sounded the same. Same beat all the time, and very identical voices (seeing as most rappers are black and have similar voices). The only thing that really changes are the sound effects in the back. Not only that, but most mainstream rap is about, yup - you got it: Sex, drugs, money, violence, racism against whites, and gangsta life. I'm not stereotyping, because I KNOW not all rap is about this. But really.. how many examples can you give besides people such as 2pac, Kayne West or Mos Def?

2pac wasn't really any different from today's rappers. He too made songs about life in the ghettos, and being a gangsta. He made songs about shooting cops, and committing other various crimes. These really aren't some standards I'd want ...

5. rap
Rap is a genre of music, a poetic, realistic rhyme put to a beat.

It used to be a respectful, decent form of music, however, it has turned bad, into utter crap listened to by posers.

MODERN (CRAP) RAP:
50 Cent/G-Unit
Mike Jones
Lil Jon
Ying Yang Twins (tweedle-dee, tweedle-dum)
All other "Crunk" artists.

CLASSIC (REAL) RAP:
Dr. Dre
RAKIM
Jay-Z
NWA
Snoop Dogg

Rap has since turned into mindless idiots rapping about jewelry, money, prostitutes, wheels, & luxury SUVs.

Yes, old rap is the true definition of rap, not the crap you see on MTV everyday. Rap has promoted: bad treatment of women, selling drugs, wasting money on a Cadillac Escalade, and dropping out of school.

However, I have very little respect and DISLIKE Snoop Dogg very much, because he is a HORRIBLE example for teens everywhere, and (in my opinion) belongs in jail. His music is extremely negative and promotes gangs, crime, drugs, and everything else I mentioned above.

I have the most respect for Dr. Dre, because he's a smart, decent man, with creative ideas. He went somewhere with his life, and does a good job of depicting life for most poor minorities in the ghettos. His work is wonderful, and he deserves many awards.

Too bad this can't be said about most new rappers, although there are some good new rappers, such as: Lupe Fiasco and Eminem.

Rap sucks now..

7. rap is crap
an incorrect statement made usually by older white people who are undercover racists (im white and i rap so believe me i know)who dont understand the concept and are turned off because of the hard beats curse words and violence. Take away the beat and its any movie you've seen in the last 2 months. Rap is like telling jokes that dont have to be funny, using all sorts of literary devices for instance>> JAY-Z
