Purple is the color associated with royalty and the word "rain" is a play on or PUN of the word "reign." Therefore, "purple rain" means "royalty reign." Moreover, when one is in the purple rain, that one is in the HIGHEST state of consciousness such that only happiness exist in their state of mind. This allows the flow of Life, Source Energy, Infinite Intelligence aka GOD.
