Punk is messy, and dirty, and fucking good. The music is radical, the lyrics filled with ego and attitude, and the way punks dress to signal that they are rebels and they are proud to differ frok everyone else.
The style of punk ranges from crazy, dyed hair (blues, pinks, reds, etc), and accessories such as backwards snapbacks, thick wristbands with spikes going up them. It is converse, with mismatched laces (not necessarily) and tight black jeans. It's different, and bloody amazing, so preps should shut up and realise that hey, they look pretty stupid too, all dressed with funny trends and pink ands hit.

Punk is different from emo due to the attitude.

Emos are like this, "I fuckin hate my life, everybody hates me and I don't blame them. I'm gonna go cut myself. It makes me feel better."
Punks are like this, "Fuck you, dammit! I don't care what you say, coz I'm epic and no one can stop me from rocking with the best of them! YEAH!"

To be a true punk, you need to respect and understand the music. You need to feel the lyrics and even write your own punk songs. This will never happen, but it would be great if people just sit back and say, "y'know what, that's who they are. They're not wannabe freaks. They're not insane spastics. They are cool, and they know it, and they like to express."
We can all dream, punks.
Taken from Green Day, legendary punk band,

"Ha ha you're dead
And I'm so happy
You were an asshole
And now you're gone."

1)Punk is a type of music in rock. Like a different type of rock would be ska, metal, or alternative. Punk, is usually reffered to as a type of music that contains a scratchy guitar sound, fast beat, and write about mostly the government and politics. Though, it always doesn't have to be that. Punk could be in your own terms.

2)A person that listens to mostly punk rock in general and doesn't care what other people say about him/her and always does his/her own thing. THAT's a real punk.
Punk Rock bands : the Misfits, Ramones, Green Day, the Explosion, and Rancid are some talented bands.

and anyone who says they're a punk, then be one, don't listen to other people, you are what you fucking are.

I would like to start this by saying that I wasnt alive in the seventies and I never got the chance to see the likes of The Pistols, The Clash or even The Ramones. This is simply my opinion.

I think that:

Punk is a loud, fast, often anti-establishment type of music. It was influenced by and has influenced many different types of music. It started in the seventies and was popularized by The Clash, Sex Pistols and the Ramones. Punk is not an image it is a belief and a lifestyle as well as a type of music.

Since the end of the seventies it has become impossible to truly define becuase it gave birth to so many different forms of music such as indie, goth, hardcore, emo, punk pop etc. Because of this a sort of "punk snobbery" has developed, were "true punks" look down upon others for not being around in that era.

Definately Punk: Sex Pistols, The Clash, Ramones

A little bit Punk: The Jam, Blondie, Green Day

Not Punk: Avril Lavine, Good Charlotte, Elliot Minor
Punk is not a fashion sense and it should not be an opportunity to look down on people because they are just beggining to get into Punk with "softer bands" like The Jam or Green Day.

It is what it is.

there are simply too many ideas and beliefs that go into being a punk, and as a result, there is no clear definition. However, a strong sense of self, the desire to see and experience new things, and a lack of sympathy towards societies beliefs and thought processes are all aspects of being a punk.

The only way to completely understand it is to go to a show and get in the pit. You will see people from all walks of life, dancing, singing and crowd surfing. It is here that you can see punks in their most natural state. Its also where you can see punks at their best because when someone does a stage dive, everyone holds them up, if someone falls down, everyone helps them up, if someone gets hurt, everyone helps them out.

So in a sense, punk is about individualism and nonconformity, but at the same time, its about helping others and making the world a better place. It is in this way that the idea of being punk becomes a contradiction.
I wanted to get a better understanding of what punk was, so I went to go see (insert a random punk band here). I didn't intend on going into the pit, but I did, and now I understand.

One thing that Punk obviously is not would be unified. Or having the same belief. Punk is perfectly acceptable for drop out age kids through early or mid twenties. After that it's like " ok lady your scaring us". "Fuck the Government, fuck what people say,I am my own person". " hey I'm punk, maybe broke live with mom but I'm movin out next month because she is ating like a bitch and I'm going to be fourty next week".
Old man on death bed..... "Hey kids keep punk alive ok, and don't ever let any one tell you what to do" "Tell us more ole wise one" "OK, fuck what any body thinks and always think about yourself only defend these things and oh yes never I mean never listen to what antbody else has to say remember you are the most important person in the world. Fuck family fuck( coughing up blood)every thing

Before the "punk" music scene took over, punk was only known as a male prostitute, or a male who participates in sodemy.
