Corporate television producers have tried to re-write rock history and give this type of teeny bopper bubblegum credibility within pop culture history. It was a joke then, is a joke now. Practioneers of this genre include Poison, Warrant, Winger, Slaughter, Skid Row, Motley Crue.

Poser Metal's most popular example is the entire Nu-Metal genre. Bands such as Limp Bizkit, Korn, Slipknot, Linkin Park, Staind, Papa Roach, System of a Down, ect.
These bands are posing to be metal. If you ever listen to these bands, they're clearly not metal at all. They're in it for the money. Metal all about the technicality of the music and musicians skill. These bands have no talented musicians and their music is no where near technical. Poser : Dude some faggot called Slipknot poser metal! They were just played on TRL along with Hawthorne Hieghts. They're so fucking metal.
