The polar opposite of Rich Kids.
more...
Less people care about poor children than rich children. In many ways they are an invisible demographic that does not exist. This is evident not only thru the number of definitions of Rich Kids compared to Poor Kids, but the way they are treated. Very few television shows appeal to poor kids, even Hip Hop shows and shows on BET for the most part appeal to the rich or middle class. Whenever a movie is made that shows the realities of there everyday life, instead of being labeled a movie, like say any of the millions of videos that appeal to middle or rich America. It is labeled a Hood Classic, or Black Cinema (EX: Boyz-N-The Hood, Paid in Full, etc.) This of course does not happen if the main character happens to be an adult white male playing Saviour to some kids in the hood (Hardball). Those are considered actual movies because rich people can relate to momentarily feeling sorry for the children on the TV screen, and may cry. Not realizing millions upon millions of children in the US, a silent majority are raised in similar conditions. Many people think being a poo... |

| 2. | Zanny the Nanny | ||
|
A fictitious babysitter, created by amoral, trashy, and promiscuous single mothers in order to deflect blame for poor parenting. "Zanny", actually is the street name for a drug called Alprazolam. I was so bombed, high, and too busy having sex! It sure is a good thing Zanny the Nanny was watching my child!

| 4. | POPP | ||
|
POPP is a term used to described children who are stupid due to the poor parenting skills their parents had.
It is an acronym for Product of Poor Parenting. It can be used to describe children who are loud, rude, inapropriate, stinky, horny, and unmotivated. A child can be characterized as any one of those, but it is not his/her fault, it is the fault of the parents. The child is intrinsicly well off, regardless of how much the parents screwed 'em up. Camp Counselor: Johnny has been giving us a lot of attitude today. He is a bad seed, I think we should drown him in the lake.
Camp Director: No, no, no. Johnny is a POPP. It's his parents fault that he behaves so poorly. |

| 5. | hanging the elephant | ||
|
The act of punishing an animal, child or employee for actions brought about by poor training, poor parenting or poor supervision when there is no retribution for the trainer, parent or supervisor who caused the issue in the first place. The phrase is derived from the hanging of Mary the elephant in Erwin, TN in 1916. Writing Johnny up for an attitude problem they've ignored for 10 years is like hanging the elephant.

| 6. | Leash Child | ||
|
A child who is restrained on a leash usually being dragged by an un-attentive parent. These children can usually be seen at wal-mart, disneyland, grocery stores, or any other generally large area.
The said leash can come in many different styles ranging from the standard which makes it look like a dog harness wrapped around a child to the newer style where the leash is attached to some ugly little backpack so the parent doesn't feel as bad when people stare and can pretend like their child is wearing it because they like it. Seeing these children usually make you think of a dog on a leash when the child strays too far the parent will either just keep strolling along dragging the poor child behind or give the leash a good tug there-by forcing said child back at their side. |
