best band ever-better then all-no equals- no competeters- not only are they getting in the rock & roll hall of fame, but their getting an entire wing dedicated to them Put aside DSOTM and the Wall and pick up a copy of More, Atom Heart Mother, Saucerful of secrets, or Relics, ull be amazed at how original and awesome thier early stuff was. Wish u were here and Animals are also awesome- but no matter wut they are still the best band ever NO ONE WILL EVER COMPARE, EVER

One of the most original and talented bands ever. Their music commented on the social injustices of modern society and the atrocities of war in a way that no other band has done before or since.

I'm not really expecting anyone to pick this definition out of all those other ones, most of them redundant and many quite false. However, if you are reading this, you are lucky to get an acurate (at least i hope acurate) annalysis of Pink Floyd's music. Pink Floyd, with the possible exception of THE WALL is part of the ultimate aquired taste in Rock music. If you can truthfully say that you love they're music BESIDES The Wall, our hats are off to you. For all you others, don't feel bad. Pink is definately NOT for everyone. If you can't stand long, slow songs, and drawn out guitar solos, skip this band. For those of you who will listen to the music and take in the perfectly crafted words, the etherial atmosphere (present in much of there Roger Waters era music), and the beautiful vocal and instrumental harmonies, and drug-induced melodies of early Floyd, then you will be rewarded. Contrary to most bands of today, Pink Floyd creates genuinly good music. Good here does not mean music you can headbang to or even really shout along to (again, with the exception of The Wall), but beautiful, heartfelt harmonies, heartwrenching lyrics, and inspired passion. Those who appreciate musicals and classical music will also appreciate most of the later Floyd with Roger Waters.

Pink Floyd is, if not one of the best bands ever formed, way up there.

Named after two bluesmen, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council, Pink Floyd is one of the most awesome psychadelic rock bands ever to be created. If you decide to be really fucking lame and just listen to Darkside of the Moon and call yourself a fan... then go ahead- but like i said, everyone will think you suck, which is true. Pick up some early albums like The Piper at the Gates of Dawn or Saucerful of Secrets, then go ahead, you can say, "i fucking love Pink Floyd." Congratulations.

At the risk of sounding cliche, I will say that Pink Floyd is one of the greatest bands of all time. They created timeless music that was amazing back in their day and is still amazing today. Unlike many bands who fade away with their generation and are forgotten, Pink Floyd has managed to have fans from their generation and new fans from ours. If you've never listened to Floyd before, I suggest you buy their earliest albums first and go from there. Not saying their later albums are any less then the earlier ones but you might want to get to know them and their style before you just jump into their music. All in all I think Pink Floyd will be around for a long, long time and even though not everyone will like them, there is something to be appreciated in their music.

Best fucking band, ever. Period.
