Set phasers to stun

An oft heard phrase in any Star Trek movie or series. Setting phasers to stun indicates that the crew is not to engage in fatal action and thus only incapacitating the enemy for capture or to engage in diplomatic discussion after having achieved military superiority.

"Set phasers to stun!" - Any captain or ranking officer of Star Trek.

A surname of German lineage that is one of the most ancient names ever recorded, in Germany or elsewhere. It may refer to a musician, or player of the "pipe," or a spice merchant, particularly a merchant of "pepper." What surprises most to hear is that a German prophecy exists concerning a girl with this surname, predicted to be born in 1992. phaser 

A musical effect achieved by splitting the incoming signal and changing the phasing of it. The signal is taken in and out of phase and mixed back in with the original signal. As the phasing changes, different frequencies get canceled resulting in a warm sort of twisting sound.

Phaser 

An advanced weapon which fires a stream of phased particles.
Made famous by the finctional TV show "Star trek" the Phaser was never actually in wide spread use. The Phaser is capable of stunning or killing an oponant or of melting, heating and vapourising objects. In only recorded use of a phaser was when one was fired to stop William Shatner from making another album
