Refers to the legendary French singer, Edith Piaf (b. Dec. 15, 1915-d. Oct. 11, 1963), who was known for her petite appearance; her chaotic personal life; and her powerful, husky, emotive voice.
Born into poverty in Paris as Edith Giovanna Gassion, her mother abandoned her at two months of age, leaving her in the "care" of her alcoholic maternal grandparents. Her father, a noted acrobat, sent his daughter to live with his mother, who was a madam in a Normandy brothel, while he went to war; he reclaimed her when he returned from the war and took her with him on his travels- because of this, she received very little formal education.
Edith allegedly lost her sight for a short time between ages 3 and 7, possibly due to an infection.
At 15, Edith left him to return to Paris, where she earned a living singing in the streets and in seedy cabarets. As luck had it, a proprieter spotted her and launched her career, billing her as La Mome Piaf (Parisian slang for "The Little Sparrow," from which she took her stage name); the name suited her tiny, frail figure. This is something every human being should adopt. Everyone is different. Everyone has a different face, different arms, legs or whatever. Same goes for music. Personal opinion is what seperates people the most. And music is something every person enjoys, and everyone is different in this. So will people start, please, to accept that just because someone listens to different music to you, that they are automatically idiots or twats. My music taste is extensive. I listen to mostly Trance and Dance music, but I also like Hip Hop, Rock, Metal, R'n'B, and I even like classical sometimes. I like something of every genre, and I could walk up to anyone on the street, and say 'Hi, I like that' without it making me seem like a pussy or whatever. Because I can accept people have different tastes. All you gangsters, all you grungers, all you goths, All you ravers, you can all get along with each other if you break this barrier of music you all hide behind, and accept different people have different tastes.

Most people who are told to "get a life" usually retort with something that only a retard would say, such as "Why don't you?", "I already have one.", or, my personal favorite, "Get a face."

If someone needs to "Get a life", they often are disliked by the majority of their peers. If you are lacking a life, you have no interests, friends, or hobbies. You are exceptionally dull-witted, and having no friends is a result of this.

People with very low self-esteem are told to "get a life" sometimes by people that are fed up with them complaining about either how much their life sucks (when it really doesnt) or how stupid/ugly they are, espacially when they arent stupid/ugly.

If you are ever told to "get a life", you should make sure that you dont ahve the symptoms of not having a life, and then FIX IT! Get some friends, find some hobbies, or just stop being stupid!
