It's Capital Bogota populated by 6 million people has a lower crime rate than most large cities of its kind. The cultural hub, nicknamed the "Athens of Latin America". Year round entertainment in arts, theater, museums, compiles a bit of everything you could want in higher entertainment. Not very warm but dam shinny and fun. Just like the temperature in each region of the country varies so does it's people. From very cold icy mountaints populated by a few shy indian farmers and lonely Park rangers (Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta), to scorching hot dessert splashed by the caribbean and some very unique people (Guajira), (Tayrona national Park) sorounded by imposing arqueological finds humid tropical jungle and pristine beaches. All within a couple hours drive. Warm old colonial and cosmopolitan cities inhabited bye some of the loudest, most effusive & downright nosiest people in the country(Cartagena, Barranquilla, Santa Marta)=These are the Costeños, living on the Atlantic coast line. From the coffe axis of Colombia, come some of the smartest people on earth. You can probably find one in every city of the world. The Paisas, originary from Antioquia (Coffe and Orquids export, home of the infamous Pablo Escobar) and its capital Medellin, The Paisas are quick witted, savy, funny, respectfull but impulsive, sentimental, strong, curiuos and inventive. In business and everyday life they will ... |

| 46. | Murder Capital of the World | ||
The city with the worst recorded homicide epidemic in the 'world' - not the United States. :/ As far as history and legend goes, Medellin in Colombia. A city decimated by murderous street gangs, power-crazed drug cartels and guerilla/paramilitary bloodletting.
Throughout the 90's and early this century, Medellin held the title, peaking with around 400 homicides per 100,000 in 1991. This fell to about 150 per 100,000 during the mid to late 90's but rose again in the early 00's, approaching 200 per 100,000. These figures are even more remarkable considering Medellin is a decent sized city of 2 to 3 million people within the period covered. Thanks to a phenomenal security clampdown Medellin is no longer the 'murder capital of the world', but it remains the ultimate example of what can happen when crime literally spins out of control. |

| 47. | IRA | ||
A paramilitary organization fighting against the English in Northern Ireland for almost 90 years. It is known as a terrorist organization, but members and supporters think of it as a liberation, freedom fighter organization. It is responsible for the bombings and deaths of many innocent towns and people, mainley the belfast area. Many people have harsh thoughts towards the IRA because they have killed many people. But remember that as far back as the 1600's, the English had been treating the Irish people like shit (Oliver Cromwell, for example), seeing them as the subhuman race, and over the course of almost 400 years of tyranny and oppresion, killed more Irish people than the IRA would ever dream of killing English people. So the Irish do have a reason to be pissed off. Englands been fuckin' with us for more than 400 years, and the IRA has put its foot down to that

The Boy Scouts of America (hereafter the BSA) is an organisation founded in 1910 as part of the Scouting Movement, which began in 1907 with Lord Baden-Powell's establishment of a similar organisation in England, using his previous experience in the Royal Army (which he achieved the rank of Lieutenant General in). The American version was founded by William D. Boyce, whose story is immortalised in the 'Story of the Unknown Scout' (a memorial is dedicated to said Scout in Washington, D.C., in the form of a buffalo). The BSA includes youth aged 12-18, and has several offshoot programs, including Sea Scouts, Varsity Scouts, Cub Scouts and Venturing.

The BSA is primarily intended to teach young men and boys the value of good citizenship, leadership skills and outdoorsmanship. The BSA has a system of ranks and awards to recognise and encourage advancement in its program. The ranks are, in order of lowest to highest, Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life and finally Eagle. After achieving Eagle, a Scout may endeavour to earn other awards beyond his rank, called Eagle Palms, ordered Bronze, Gold and Silver (compare with Olympic medals, ordered Bronze, Silver and Gold). Since these Palms are non-specific, they may be earned again and again, and stacked much like a military award in ribbon form, for as long as the Scout is actually in Scouting (i.e., he has not turned 18). Other awards of note are what the BSA calls merit badges, which are required to advanc... |

HIMEOBS (His Imperial Majesty's Elite Orbital Bomber Squadron) is a worldwide intelligence agency charged with obtaining and analysing information about foreign governments, corporations, and persons for classified purposes. Additionally, the agency sometimes engages in propaganda and public relations efforts. It also serves as a paramilitary force via covert operations at the direction of a Commander-in-Chief and under oversight by an independent Board of Advisors. This last role has caused a lot of controversy, raising questions about the legality, morality, effectiveness, and wisdom of such operations. HIMEOBS is sometimes referred to euphemistically in government and military parlance as The Squadron, particularly when its operations in a particular area are an open secret.
