2)Tends to write idiotic lyrichs about pain, parents hating them, and tends to use the word numb, pain, satan, ridicule (or thousands of different mocking words)or other issues they allways use.

3)Tends to go soft after a period, and if someone dont like it they blame it on a emotional release.

4)pretending they are heavy by screaming in the worst timing ever and stuff and tuning they're guitar very low.

5) pretending they are the new wave of heavy metal.

6)Probably been issued a "Nu metal the guide to riches " by theyre producers.

7) study KoRn, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park.

Closed-minded people would call it crap. But alot of it has meaning, and I agree that most people who don't listen to it are sissies, maybe scared of something, new?

The biggest musical perversion ever to crawl out of some executive's arse since boy bands. Nu metal takes the single best genre of music ever created and turns it into repetitive, shallow, unromantic drivel.

People should try listening to REAL metal, like.. Queensryche, Symphony X, Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Opeth, In Flames, Iced Earth.. There are too many to list.

Nu Metal is a fusion genre that mixes metal with funk, hip hop, and sometimes Industrial. They're often groove-based and they're guitar and bass is usually tuned very low.

In the late 90s Korn's "Follow The Leader" had gained a massive amount of popular and featured the hit singles Freak on a Leash and Got The Life. This album opened the door for many Nu Metal and Rap Metal bands to become popular. In 1999 Korn's Issues, Limp Bizkit's Significant Other, and Kid Rock's Devil Without a Cause were extremely succesful.

2000 and 2001 was possibly the best time for Nu Metal with Limp Bizkit, Slipknot, Deftones, System of a Down, Disturbed, Godsmack, Staind, Drowning Pool, Static-X, Mudvayne, P.O.D., Mushroomhead, Papa Roach, Soulfly, and Linkin Park (who's debut was the highest selling album of 2001) all having succesful albums.
2002 showed signs of Nu Metal declining. Korn's long awaited 5th album Untouchables and Papa Roach's Lovehatetragedy both sold less than expected.
Some of the reasons behind this is MTV started focusing more on Pop-Punk and Emo-Pop in 2002.
Even though many of these bands have gained criticism Deftones and System of a Down are highly respected among critics and rock fans in general.

Korn are often considered the pioneers of this style of music.

In short, this is the Michelob Light of metal music. I wouldn't even go so far as to call it actual 'metal', but for the sake of avoiding confusion (and so I don't have to come up with a made-up definition on the spot, since I'm being a lazy jackass at the moment), we'll call it Metal Lite. Usually, nu metal songs are not very complicated in riff structure or lyrics; the riffs are often just a few strummed chords, shouted/yelled lyrics, some more strummed chords, an 'emotional' interlude, and more half-assed playing by guys who sound like they're learning as they go along. Seeking depth in Metal Lite lyrics is sort of pointless; you may as well peruse mattress tags for a Shakespearean sonnet. Often, the lyrics are of the stale, done to death "I hate mommy/daddy" (or, in some cases, both) variety. Other lyrical areas include the pain over broken relationships, and anti-society rants which read like something a psuedo-angstridden seventh grader wrote in study hall. The "us against them" theme pops up from time to time, most notably in Slipknot. Who are you against, really? Your parents? The hulking brute waiting for you every morning outside school to give you a wedgie, shake you down for your lunch money, and then toss your miserable ass in some fresh mud (and getting your cheap Hot Topic pants all gunked up!!!
