nu metal is a genre of music , originated from heavy metal bands like iron maiden , ACDC black sabeth , then thrash came about with bands like metallica , nu metal is a subgenre and is more sad and doomish , it was founded with bands like koRn ( which rock) these bands werent as talented as the original heavy metal bands but made a sound that people liked . some people describe slipknot as nu metal but some true metalheads that i know think difrantly and sey there true metal but they might get confused by how heavy and how corey taylor shouts but the lyrics are the things which tell or not if they are nu metal. i think slipknit are a very good band think they are nu metal because they are nu (new) and original but the sound is to the likeing of thrash and screamo rockers who will not call it nu metal...well in my school , i on the other hand like nu metal, black metal ,goth rock and the thrash an hard rock an loads shit but nu metal bands like limp bizkit some people will call gay cos dey rap and loads do but koRn are the true founders of nu metel but since there first few albums they lost popularity and got just referd as hard rock to the metal heads and metal heads started to show a liking of them but not as much as thrash and screamo.
i will admit that nu metal bands sometimes arn't as talneted as original metal bands and the morden thrash but the sound they produced was to the liking of record producers an shit , but the rapcore defeintly wasn't liked by many metal heads.
slipknot to this day to anyone who is not a fan who either hates them or just dusn't listen will only no slipknot as a metal band and will criticise metal heads and just make fun of that and call them emo shit wich is gai , but for those metalheads who have a disliking for slipknot and do refer them as nu metal shit will not like them for this point but there are more points why they don't. true metal heads might not like them because they are sad and gothic ( sometimes gothic) and will call them emo ( they don't know whAT EMO MEANS) because the original heavy metal was a heavier take on rock and it was either normal rock n rollish lyrics or devil worshiping (slightly) and vilont which they love but the dark sadness edge was not to their liking.

Nu Metal is suppossed to be the 'new metal' of the new age. Mixing lots of pop-culture into their music and image. Speaking of image, that's basically all they're based around, image. One band that sticks out in my mind is Slipknot. Probably one of the most popular nu metal bands, but as all nu metal bands do, they suck. They're not innovative in any way whatsoever. These bands can hardly play guitar, and most people proclaim the drumming is incredible, when really it isn't at all. Some people also proclaim that the 'new' Slipknot has wonderful and fast guitar solos, but no, they don't have even one. And their most complicated riffs aren't even complicated at all. Anyway, the genre is mostly loved by people who have a wonderful life but for some reason think their life is shit. So they go throughout their life acting depressed, but when someone asks why they're depressed they either say 'Well, because my life sucks.' or 'My parents are the worst.' But in reality they have good lives and their parents are the some of the best. Or they're just spoiled so much to hell and back that they don't know anything. You 'nu metal' bastards need to quit listening to your Slipknot and go listen to some Megadeth, or a real metal band that has talent. Such as Megadeth, as I said before, Opeth, And Oceans, At The Gates, Thyrfing, Rhapsody, Dimmu Borgir, or Children of Bodom. Don't just listen to the damn same shit all over again like all these new nu metal bands that the rec...

These guys are just introducing a new metal sound, guys. Get over it. Many people like it, and that's why it became mainstream. I might not like some of the bands, but I don't call them "fake" because of that. They're just as much metal as Metallica or Slayer are, and just because they sound different doesn't mean they suck. It sure would be boring if all bands sounded the same, don't you think?

I like all kinds of metal - power, thrash, progressive, and even nu. Here are some examples: I like Slipknot but I don't like Slayer. I like Children of Bodom but I don't like Korn.

It's still that metal I know and love, so I listen to it. If I don't like a band, I just don't listen to it. I don't come here and call them fake. If I wanted to complain, I'd at least give good reasons for my complaint.

it is basically and purely, the light beer of music. It's not necessarily as hard or heavy as real metal music(cry me a river about it). It offers a variety of sounds, tastes, and moods , while still having the same base, while Metal is usually just loud angst music. Since it's easier on the ears usually, theres a greater chance of playing a numetal song in public without getting someone offended or pissed off. regular metal music, you have to enjoy it when your alone or with other people who like metal music.

Forget the definition... Most all of you are just hating cause if you did like "nu-metal" you would have to explain it to you narrow-minded friends and then get ur ass kicked. I am a fan of all, new and old... I dont dis a group or band or whatever just because they have a particular theme or silly antics. For the record I like and in some cases LOVE some nu metal bands... however I would agree with the lack of variety that may be present in these commerical groups. I have read most of these definitions and really think that most of you ~90% are just plain silly. I was quite amazed to not see the likes of Marilyn Manson in any of these definitions (if you can call them that) but I guess thats because hes not really metal, but neither is Linkin Park or Slipknot. As I look through my collection of music I see a large mixture of classics like Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, and Frank Zappa which are certainly classic rock and not metal. But equally as important as the classics is the more recent stuff (recent = last 20 years) Manson Korn and SOAD fill my collection as plenifully as Metallica, Dimmu, and Children Of Bodom do. As I know most of you will reject this commentary I would like to give everyone including myself the opportunity to say, "FUCK YOU!" to all you haters. System is kewl, Slipknot can rock a stadium, Metallica can get you pumped, and Dimmu can corrupt the deepest darkest corners of your soul. They all rock for their own reasons!... And who ever said it w...
