|2.||lord of the flies|
A book that perfectly epitomizes the teenage world.more...
In the same way that the boys were marooned on the island, adults have forced adolescents into a world of their own: high school.
Teachers and administrators are only concerned with keeping kids on the premises, and don't care what kids do to each other.
The resulting culture is logically, brutish, petty, and barbaric.
Few have any regard for their future. (The kids on the island have don't take care of their rescue fire)
The only people with any sense of reason, the nerds, are either completely ignored or overtly persecuted (Ralph, Simon, and Piggy).
In this world, there are no consequences for your actions. People are free to harm as they please, because the only authority present does not care what kids do to kids, only what kids to do teachers and school property.
The real message in the Lord of the Flies was that adolescents, left to their own devices, are naturally inclined to cruelty, destruction, and savagery.
Lord of the Flies is mandatory reading for most high school students. I don't believe it was a coincidence.
|3.||Survival Of The Coolest|
Derives from Survival of the fittest by Charles Darwin, almost the same concept.
Think of your typical high school. An individual, or a group, eventually becomes the coolest shit in town. Once the spotlight is on them, the people who are uncool eventually dwindle and implode (or realistically...their genes die off and all the cool kids go to the summer of '69).
Person 1 and 2 get noticed more than person 3.
Person 3 becomes less noticed for the things that person 1 and 2 do (attention whoring...or just being themselves).
Person 1 and 2 eventually are the Survival Of The Coolest and person 3 does not reproduce and eventually his or her genes die off and are never seen in anyone else again.

Iron Man: Ah, Shakespeare in The Park? Doth mother know you weareth her drapes?
Thor: Loki will face Asgardian justice!
Iron Man: He gives up the Cube, he's all yours. Until then, stay out of the way...TOURIST!
(Thor, angered by the retort, throws his hammer Mjolnir forcefully at Iron Man, sending Iron Man flying back a distance through the forest)
Steve Rogers: Doctor Banner, I think now might be a good time for you to get angry.
Bruce Banner: That's my secret, Cap: I'm always angry.

The Other: Humans... They are not the cowering wretches we were promised. They stand. They are unruly, and therefore cannot be ruled. To challenge them is to court death.

1. noun TLOTR is often erronously called a trilogy, when in fact it is a single novel, consisting of six books plus appendices, sometimes published in three volumes.more...
The first volume, TFOTR, was published on 29 July 1954 in England, 'with an edition for the USA following' on 21 October of the same year.
The second volume, TTT, was published in England on 11 November 1954 and in the United States on 21 April 1955.
Volume three, TROTK, finally appeared in England on 20 October 1955 and in the United States on 5 January 1956.
With the appearance ot the third volume, TLOTR was published in its entirety, and its first edition text remained virtually unchanged for a decade. (Tolkein made a few small corrections, but further errors entered TFOTR
One who conforms to a belief or set of beliefs held by someone else. For example, as many of the definitions on this page have noticed, there are adolescent social groups in Western society that many people feel the need to conform to, such as goths, punks and emos for example. However, some people may be forced to conform to a set of beliefs that they do not necessarily wish to follow; for example, in dictatorships like the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany in the 20th century, people were forced to conform to what the government believed, regardless of what they themselves thought.more...
The realm of conformism can be stretched, however. For example, one might argue that by being a non-conformist, you are conforming to non-conformism. However, this is bullshit and you should severely injure anyone who truly believes in that. There is no such thing as the non-conformist group in the same manner as there are punks and emos.
Of course, you could be a non-conformist by not conforming to the social norms as defined by adults, not adolescents, but nobody gives a shit about those anyway.
A good game, not a shitty game, a good one, one that has pleased audiences everywhere. Compelling Audio, graphics so good they only work perfectly on the 360(Not to mention HD), talented voice acting, some of the best I've ever heard(except maybe Half-Life 2) And an online system that blows me away, Xbox live rocks on this game, and this game only. Gameplay is practically the same, people are just stubborn with the new look engine and look.more...
People bitch about the weapons, well apparently there is no pleasing people. Halo 1's assault rifle was not a rifle at all, practicly a portable gun turret, killing in 3 seconds, the shotgun was a sniper(not joking, use it), and the old pistol killed in 3 shots. But when Bungie makes the pistol less powerful and dual-wieldable, splits the assault rifle into a dual-wieldable smg and a longer range battle rifle(that people drooled over) and the shot-gun a more purposeful shotgun, fans turn their back on a fantastic game and spread lies to others.
Graphics 9/10 (360 10/10)
Story: Totally completed it's purpose as a mid game of a trilogy, plenty of questions made, much for Halo 3 to finish.
Half-Life 2 is another game, they don't mix since one game took 6 years to complete and one took 3. Both were hyped to the point were they were hacked and ilegally available over the Internet. Both won Game of the Year., both deserve respect, and especially the developers since they bothered to make a game no ma...
