NOVA or Northern Virginia are the suburbs of Washington D.C. Some of the richest counties in the United States. Anybody in Loudoun, Prince William. Fairfax and Arlington county are considered from NOVA. When asked where they are from they always respond "Northern Virginia, right outside of D.C." instead of Virginia. Disaffiliates themselves from Southern Virginia

A kugel is a special breed of rich middle-aged woman living in Johannesburg. Originally, the word kugel only applied to Jewish women (a kugel a Jewish potato-based dish), but now applies to any spoilt housewife.

Upstate is a term used by people who live in New York City or the surrounding metro area. Long Islanders and some city people consider the Northern suburbs (Westchester, Rockland) to be upstate because they are north of where they are and think thaty for some reasons the cultural and economic ties spread east. Northern suburbs consider anywhere above them to be upstate (mostyl Poughkeepsie and up). Whats funny is that people from "upstate" cities such as Albany, Binghamton, Syracuse, Rochester or Buffalo have no concept of what "upstate is. Albany is the Capital District. Binghamton is the Southern Tier. Syraucse is Central New York. Rochester is near the Finger Lakes and Buffalo is in Western New York. In the end Upstate doesn't really exist and is generally a term used to imply that you live south of the area being discussed.

The best place that you could ever live! alexandria is the shit! We are in no way hicks cuz northern virginia is cosmopolitan and ecpsecially alexandria. we are so close to D.C. and yet so close to greenery and nature. Old Town is the wealthy area of Alexandria. Suck on that!
