Historically known as an artist's haven, Washington Beach is the north campus area of Columbus, Ohio. Once designated as SoHu (because the area lies south of Hudson Avenue), the vast majority of Washington Beach real estate is comprised of rental property. The large student population in the area is generally less rowdy than what may be found a little further south. Parking can at times be a pain, however the Beach does not require parking permits or meter maids. Famous for its crime as well as its artistic residents, Washington Beach has also been referred to as the Vertical Slum.
The origin of the Washington Beach moniker supposedly stems from the Grand Theft Auto video game. As legend has it... in the spring of 2003, Mike Carney and his roomate were joking about north campus. They were playing Grand Theft Auto a lot and started calling the hood, Washington Beach. This title was intended to bring pride to the citizens that live in north campus that have nothing to do with The Ohio State University, mostly kids not in school or attending CCAD.
Geographically speaking, the boundaries of Washington Beach are Hudson Avenue to the north, Patterson to the south, Summit Street to the east, and High Street to the west.

The northernmost neighborhood in Manhattan, everything above Dyckman Street. Technically speaking, however, Marble Hill is the northernmost Manhattan neighborhood. However, people consider Marble Hill to be part of Kingsbridge in the Bronx, which it is not.

Sure, some parts are dirty n got their problems and hobos and drugs and violence, but what city doesn't? There are more sexy females within any given 2 block radius than there are in the whole of any other city; plenty of bars, and nearly everything to do in a city filled with life and excitement. The rules are chill, because the police have SERIOUS things to worry about, so nearly anything is acceptable; this city is fun people believe me! The suburbs house the rich kids and are pretty gay, but the city is great! It's building up down here every day.

And yes, there is some crime, but it's concentrated, and usually has reasoning behind it. Don't be stupid and those people will leave you alone; it's actualy easier to get along with down-to-earth Baltimore residents than it is with rich kids in suburban high schools that are assholes, because nobody in Baltimore is snobby! New Jersey IS the richest state by median household income and Connecticut is fourth, behind NJ, Maryland and Hawaii. This information is according to the US Census Bureau 2005/06, which is comparably a more updated and official source than U.S. News and World Report 2003. It is amazing how uneducated YOU ARE to so adamantly trash talk a state that you have obviously never lived in. In addition I think it is rather ironic to your statement that New Jersey has the best public education program in the nation.
I was born and raised in New Jersey and lived all over the state. For the past three years I have lived in Connecticut, living in Trumbull, Fairfield, and now Bridgeport (in the Black Rock area) during that time. Connecticut is a nice state but it is quite boring overall in comparison to New Jersey and falls short of Jersey's greatness.
- New Jersey borders New York City and Philadelphia where Connecticut is annoyingly far from NYC and Boston. It drives me nuts when people in Fairfield County especially, front like they are from the City. You can't actually SEE the skyline from your town, no matter where you are in CT.
- New Jersey has a world famous stretch of shore line (and for those who don't know Seaside Heights is only one dirty square mile of the shore) and Connecticut has the polluted LI Sound that has no waves (that makes surfing pretty hard huh).
- In Connecticut you cannot buy alcohol on Sundays and every other day liquor stores shut down at 9 PM!...
