There is an Indonesian term – "norak" – that comes to mind when looking at the choice of colours. It is the equivalent of "kitsch"; I'm not saying that it is 'of bad taste', but there is the sense of "norak-ness", a certain playfulness – if that makes sense. 'cheap and chic'. really classy, Klassy with a K!
