Power Metal:
more...
A cheesy and fast paced sub-genre of metal Pronounced: Pow-ur met-ahl. Power metal is a sub-genre of speed metal known as "true" metal by nerdy teens who only listen to it and ignore most other metal bands outside the genre (the irony, of course is that they limit themselves to one subgenre of metal and thusly earn little to no respect from other metallers, as most metal fans love a broad spectrum of metal, and indeed, other music genres, such as blues, jazz, etc), and "cheese" or "bullshit" metal by everyone else and is also reviled by most thrash/death/black (actual) metallers for it's lack of substance and wanton insertion of elves, dragons and other nerdy nonsense into lyrics. Broader fans of metal despise it because they fear people judge metal on the cheesey songs by these bands. This is not to dismiss the genre entirely, as it contains many talented musicians, however, the most (undeservedly) popluar band in the genre, Dragonforce (or, alternatively, Fagonforce) gives the genre a worse name than it deserves, what with it's legion of pre-teen to mid-teen fanboys, frothing at the mouth over insinuations of artificially sped up songs, little variation between songs, terrible vocals, overrated guitar work and drummer of unnotable worth. People are, however mislead, into believing dragonforce is the b-all and end-all of power metal, just because it's on guitar hero. As much as power metal is disliked among many metallers, even among broader metal fan... |

death metal comes in many sub-genres: brutal, technical, blackened, melodic, deathcore, etc etc, with the most "mainstream sound" coming from more melodic bands such as in flames or arch enemy. brutal is a genre that is commonly associated with bands such as cannibal corpse, hate eternal and devourment. this is arguably the most heavy form of death metal with heavily downtuned guitaring, frequent blastbeats and extremely harsh guttural vocals. subject matter ranges from rape to necrophilia and everything in between. technical/progressive death metal is a subgenre most commonly recognised by its extremely technical guitaring, with frequently changing song structures and uncommon time signatures. Examples include Necrophagist, Cryptopsy and to some extent Opeth. Blackened death metal is a sort of fusion between death metal and some of the more melodic aspects of black metal, aswell as the subject matter such as satanism, the occult and general evil. Some early influences to the subgenre include deicide, immolation aswell as black metal bands such as ma... |

| 59. | Classical Music | ||

The Classical Period in music lasted from 1750 to 1820, falling in between the Baroque and Romantic eras; however, the term "classical music" has become synonymous with all instrumental music composed during the middle ages. Notable composers include Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, and many more. Although music from this era has endured considerable bias in today's modern world, with many idiots saying it's "not cool", I see no reason at all to propagate reverse discrimination and immediately start bashing rap for "having no emotion" and stating that classical music is the only "real" music. Shit like that is only furthering the image of classical music fans as closed-minded elitist snobs who refuse to try anything else. I happen to enjoy both rap AND classical music as well as many other genres, and I can tell you that if you look beyond no-talent asswipes like Soulja Boy, rap is a very enjoyable listening experience that deserves respect like any other genre. As for having "no emotion" - listen to Mockingbird by Eminem, or Dear Mama by Tupac, and then try telling me that rap is all meaningless garbage about bitches and bling. Rap can be poetry... or it can be the meaningless shit that is played on our ... more...

| 60. | High Voltage | ||
|
A term used to describe any variety of music that can not already fit into one of the thousand redundant variants of musical genres. Joe: "Hey man is that some nu-metal band?"
Dennis: Not Really" Joe: "Well they do sorta have a Visual Kei feel to their look" Dennis: "They must be High Voltage" |

|
The sole network responsible for destroying music. Said network has brainwashed the masses to not appreciate the finer works of music in this world. Such as death metal (which isn't just people banging on instruments, listen to some fucking Necophagist) and the likes. This said network also makes people think that SLIPKNOT isfucking death metal. And in reality, this isfar from the truth. MTV has destroyed musical genres and had bred an army of idiotic 'gangstas'.

Grew up in a musical family where she learned to play the piano, accoustic guitar, and accoridan. She is also trained in several genres of dance since age 3: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Lyrical, and Hip Hop. She began private classical voice lessons at age 12 and went on to be in many musical productions including The King and I and Fiddler on the Roof. She also was in a few operas including The Crucible and The Magic Flute. She segued into film (horror) in college and with only one or two horror films under her belt and no nudity, she began to be referred to as a 'scream queen' within the horror community. While appreciative of the support, she wasn't crazy about the categorization. Reason being, her background is mainly in theatre and music. Her debut album "Poet" was released in February 2008 and feature... more...

|
Chalga is the most common word, used for identifying the Pop folk in Bulgaria, incorporating a blend of Arabic, Turkish, Greek, and Roma (Gypsy) influences, as well as motifs from even flamenco and klezmer music. It is known for repeating musical themes and dance rhythms and its style of dancing called kyuchek in Bulgarian. In the beginning it was a "low-budget" music with often low quality, but with time it evolved to one of the most popular musical genres in Bulgaria. Now chalga singers are often professionals - some of them even winners of famous musical contests. Let's go to a chalga party tonight!
