| 1. | Nu Metal | ||
|
This is the newest form of metal. Much to the dismay of "old" metal fans, this "nu metal" is much accepted by todays culture. Old bands such as Pantera and Slayer had great musical talent, however today's listeners are typically more interested in the cross over of rap with the old sounds of metal. Nu Metal also includes more of an emphasis on the lower chords rather than the high pitched, more complexed chords played by the "original" metal bands. Nu metal music is also are accompanied by yelling and shrill screams, which in most cases should be deemed pointless. Regardless of wether or not you want to consider it "true" metal, this new genre IS here to stay... go, bitch and moan in your closet.
One last thing, you are all going to die while this genreation of music will live on until a next comes along. So why don't all you "haters" go, put on your Slayer albums and cry about how bad your life has become because of nu metal. waaaaah |

| 2. | hair metal | ||
|
Gay,horrible music.
- The only redeeming thing about it was the guitar solo because that's when the terrible singing stopped for a little while. - Started in LA by men with mullets who were only in it for the groupies,alcohol,meth and cocaine. - The men were all cross-dressers and resembled and took on the characteristics of their groupies to the point where other bands who were looking for groupies to fuck often mistook a band of hair metallers for a sixpack of groupie whores. Beavis: whoa these chicks are hot
Butthead: are these chicks or dudes? Beavis: whoa,I don't know Butthead: well they better be chicks dammit because they're giving me a woody :::: Example doesn't use the word hair metal. Use the word in a sentence. |

| 3. | Dust metal | ||
|
Dust metal is a genrè of music often used to describe metal music with ethnic roots. Bands such as Soulfly who bring their Brazilian roots and mix it with 'usual' metal.
The term is used more in the U.K than most other places but it is slowly becoming a more widely used genrè. Person 1: "What are you favourite genrès of music?"
Person 2: "I like metal, glam rock, and dust metal" Person 1: "Which dust metal bands?" Person 2: "Skindred, Soulfly, SOAD....etc." |

| 4. | rap metal | ||
|
A misconception. It is supposed to be a combination of heavy metal and rap music, but these genres are fundamentally different. Rap focuses primarily on rhyming vocals with a simple and repetative beat in the background. Metal is the combination of fast and complicated instrument work with intense vocals. Hence the two genres cannot mix. People say crap bands like Linkin Park, Papa Roach and Rage Against the Machine are rap metal. None of these bands have an ounce of metal in them, and probably fail at rapping too. They are prime examples of undertalented, overwhore MTV bullshit.

| 6. | metal head | ||
|
Metalheads are people (both girls and guys)who enjoy and are particularly devoted to metal music. Metal music includes (limited list - theres LOTS more subgenres): death metal, black metal, heavy metal (for example 80s heavy metal), nu metal (often disregarded by old school/death metal lovers) symphonic/gothic metal etc.
more...
Metal heads dont HAVE to dress in a particular way, however a STEREOTYPICAL male metalhead could be seen wearing long pants (ie army pants) in dark colours like grey, black, karki green etc, a band shirt often bought from a concert, and long hair - popular because of effect when headbanging. patches are also popular. Females dress is harder to stereotype - ranging from gothic tendancies to indie/emo (thrift store emo - not wannabe hate life emo). some metal heads (particularly males) get very defensive when describing a metal head - often calling those not as devoted as them as posers (often assosiated with nu metal) |
