Mod, in this day and age, does not mean some one who dresses like there stuck in the 60's, its short for London Modern, named such for the original location it began, London.
Mod can also be considered 'indie' in the states, refering to things that are ahead of the fashion trends.

Google Mod clothing and click on mod cloth, that should give a good example.

Usually used in a forum, a MOD is the highest form of control.
At times, higher than the Admin itself.

MOD does not stand for Moderator, and has no abbreviation to it.
It is just three capital letters used to describe a higher power in the Internet or overall.
