15. metalcore
Metalcore is a mix of heavy metal and hardcore music. It originated in the 1980's with bands like Integrity. Metalcore used to be refered to as Cross-Over Thrash, as stated by bands such as Dirty Rotten Imbecilesand Nuclear Assault.

Today, Metalcore and Cross-Over Thrash are considered two completely different genres of music. Nuclear Assault was among the first bands to call themselves Heavy Metal/Hardcore Punk band. Breakdown was arguably one of the earliest to fuse heavy metal-influenced riffing with a more traditional hardcore sound without being a thrash metal band.

Breakdowns are essential part of metalcore. Typically, the guitars play a set of rhythmically oriented riffs, usually on open strings so as to achieve the lowest sound the guitars are tuned for. These riffs are often accented by the drummer with double kick bass drums.
Examples of metalcore are: theBLED, Haste The Day, Bleeding Through, Underoath (Act Of Depression & Cries Of The Past), Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, The Black Dahlia Murder, Bury Your Dead, Norma Jean, The Chariot, Darkest Hour, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Between The Buried And Me, Escape The Fate, Every Time I Die, Evergreen Terrace, Hatebreed, The Haunted, Misery Signals, The Number Twelve Looks Like You, Parkway Drive, Unearth, Vanna, and Walls Of Jericho.

18. New Haven
A cool city in Connecticut, feels kind of like a scaled down mix of Philly and Brooklyn, has some bad areas but many nice areas as well. New Haven is also home to one of the most prestigious schools in the world, Yale University, and has great art, music, and food.
I live in New York and New Haven pizza is worth the drive.
19. Oxnard
Oxnard is a mostly Latino town with an Anglo name.

On the outside Oxnard is a large commuter town whose middle-class inhabitants constantly move going to work, home, or out to consume..

…but the heart and core of Oxnard is the working-class inhabitants who give life and culture to an otherwise “dead” city. On one end you have Mexicans and Chicanos who had previously been segregated in areas such as Colonia & El Rio, and at the other end you have those with a military background, from the men and women who work at Hueneme and Point Mugu base, to the Military Brats who terrorize the streets. Military families have added more to cultural the mix in such a highly Latino city bringing people here from all over the place. (Most notably the Ilocano Filipino community in South side) Most people growing up in this area have a damn good understanding of diversity.

Oxnard’s working-class identity at times, transcend mainstream understandings, producing many underground scenes that are epic yet extremely quite from the Narcore punk scene in the early eighties, to the early House scene, and of course the always constant underground hip-hop scene. The city is a microcosm of influences that never really is definite.

Being a working class town produces a wide variety of politically conscious people from Liberal Idealist to Straight up Anarchist. Central to the border debate, many people in Oxnard are angered by the very idea that Native American People (Mixteco folk) are cons...

20. Dallas-Fort Worth
The largest metropolis of Texas. As of 2007, the fastest growing metro area in the country and home to almost 6 million residents. The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is almost nothing but a sea of similar looking cookie cutter housing developments that continue unabated for miles and miles across the plains of north-central Texas. All the Metroplex cities are almost the same; Garland looks like Plano looks like Carrolton looks like Irving looks like Mesquite. The DFW Metroplex has more shopping malls than anywhere else in the U.S. The massive DFW Airport lies between Dallas and Fort Worth and is the 4th busiest airport in the U.S. as well as being the main hub for American Airlines. Despite being in the same metro area, Dallas and Forth Worth are vastly different. Fort Worth is way more “western” and friendly while Dallas is more haughty and “yuppie” or urban-professional. The Dallas-Fort Worth area was traditionally driven by big oil but is now reliant on high-tech industries, wholesale/retail trade and financial services. There are more millionaire oil magnates in the DFW area than anywhere else in the U.S. People in Dallas-Fort Worth generally drive either SUVs or pickup trucks. The woman are hot for the most part. Most of the people adhere to the religion of Dallas Cowboys football on Sundays.
Dallas-Fort Worth is a good place to live depending on where you are from. It's a surburban mix of Midwestern and southwestern culture rolled into one.
