Missinterhear 

Missinterhearing is when someone says something and you don't quite hear what they have said, but instead of asking them to repeat it you respond with what you think you have heard. Old people are known to do this frequently.
Housemate A: It's three days till we get internet!
Housemate B: WHAT? Did you just say that there are three days till we get INTIMATE? What the hell!!!
Housemate A: Dude, you totally missinterheard me.

Person A: Tonight I'm going to wear my sluttishly high heels...
Person B: What on earth are Cottage Pie Heels??

Misunderheard

When a person doesn't understand something because they didn't hear all of what was said.
*loud music playing*
Amelia: hey let's go to the movie theater in vestal.
Jill: OK we'll take my car.
Amelia: *talking to herself* I wish we were taking Jill's car.

*outside*

Amelia: too bad we aren't taking your car.
Jill: what do you mean? We are taking my car.
Amelia: oh,I must have misheard you so I misunderstood.
Jill: I think the word you are looking for is misunderheard.
Amelia: probably.

when you are listening to someone tell you something, but not quite grasping the concept.

A verb meaning to misunderstand something overheard due to the fact you weren't paying attention or the initiator was speaking too softly.
I thought she said she wanted to hook up, but I misunderheard her because she was whispering in the club.

He was misunderheard because his posse was making too much noise.

(verb past tense) To confuse another's statement via a combination of misunderstanding and not properly hearing the other person.

Oftentimes the result of becoming distracted mid-sentence and then snapping back only to find that the conversation has taken an unexpected turn.
He drove to the wrong movie theater?! He must've misunderheard me during dinner.
