Alot of the definitions on here are pretty accurate, but I'll fill in the gaps.
First off, I'm a metal head, so I'll write this as unbiased as I can. Metal heads are simply a person who listens to, likes, and UNDERSTANDS all types of metal exluding Nu./Alt. metal. Yes, most metal heads have long or close shaven hair, but thats not true for all. Band shirts and jeans are common, but not all of us wear them. Personally I wear bondage pants (i.e. Tripps), because I find them alot more comfortable than jeans. We tend to keep a very close circle of friends, but we will respect anyone who shows us respect and isn't fake about who they are. We view ALL of our fellow metal heads as brothers and sisters, regardless of race, religion, etc. We will also acknowledge any artist for their talent, even if we don't like them. Alot of people might be turned away from metal heads because we can look pretty intimidating, and let's face it, we are known for our love of a good pit, and our love for a good fight. But, once you get to know us, we are some of the most calm, down to earth people you will ever meet. Only the Kings of Metal themselves, ManOwaR, could write a fitting song about the true metal heads, The Brothers of Metal.

A very small ammount of people fit into this category. Your average highschool would have four or less of them at most, seeing as most people who listen to "metal" actually listen to Alt. Rock/Nu metal. Metalheads are usually spotted by their looks. Usually denim jeans (Blue or black), band shirts, long hair/shaved hair, etc. The metalheads truely are the stupidest group of people to pick a fight with, we may be the quiet type, but metalheads could easilly wipe out multiple kids, and have a short temper that goes along with that. The metal culture however has dropped quite a bit, seeing as how the "hip" thing is to listen to rap or numetal. Real metal bands: Iced Earth, Judas Priest, Amon Amarth, Bathory, Morbid Angel, Manegarm, Hammerfall, Blind Guardian, Burzum, Borknagar, Emperor, Immortal, Einherjer, Finntroll, etc

Kay, I'm sick of looking at the difinitions of how a metal head lives, that's like trying to describe how to make a cake. A metal head is someone who listens to metal. That's all there is to it. You need not to dress a certain way to be a metal head, this isn't MTV, you feckin clowns. You don't need to wear hoodies or ripped jeans and have long hair to be a metal head, you could shop at JC Penny and still listen to metal. By stating a lifestyle of a metal head, just makes it a potential fad. 'Metal Head', like any other subculture is just a title. lmao, how do you use an example for a metal head?

One who listens to Metal. Identified by their style and/or behavior:
Seen wearing a black band t-shirt or a similar dark color, blue to black jeans, shaved head to long hair, metal spikes or studs around the arms, neck, and waist. The typical Metal Head sticks pretty strictly the Underground Music. However, many Metal Heads are very open-minded musically. Metal Heads, no matter what the size, are efficient fighters. That metal on his person doubles as armor. Also, those lyrics don't just go in one ear and out the other. They stay in there and unleash a fury of hatred and adrenaline when triggered. Often times carries a knife or shank just waiting to use it on anyone that challenges them. While dangerous or violent, most Metal Heads are some of the friendliest most down to Earth guys you'll ever meet. Lyric Examples:

to start the true metal head actually does not label him/her self. he wears band shirts to show support for the bands he likes not to be labeled. normaly listens to gore, goth, black, speed, or thrash metal(nu & alt are not metal). extremely dislikes emo kids! they go to shows/concerts on a regular basis. they might seem serious but within them its totaly the opposite. they usualy play an instrument and are in a band. normaly wears blue, black or gray dickies or jeans w/ a band shirt & maybe doc martins. some true metal head music: Iron Maiden, Slayer, Exhumed, Kreator, Vomitory. A metal head has intense love for metal bands. They usually wear band tee shirts and jeans. Dont care too much about their appearence. We are quiet and keep to ourselves. Believe it or not most of us are inteligent. Most love to draw and are very artistic (such am i). Real metal heads listen to the classic bands such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica(old), Pantera, Megadeth, GN'R, and that shit. People who say their 'metal heads' who happen to listen to gay nu metal-slipknot, cradle of filth, ext. AREN'T true metal heads. Also, a true metal head wont come out and say 'im a metal head' We dont give a shit about what people think about us and quite frankly could care less. We're close to our friends aspecially the ones who respect us for who we are and dont care about what kinda music we listen to. Like i said before we keep to ourselves but are always up for a fight or to defend our music. ALOT of people mistake metal heads for EMO,GOTH, and PUNK which are very different from metal heads. Emos hate the world and cut themselves and listen to fall out boy *gag* and goths just crave the attention or are depressed. Punks like to pogo and listen to sex pistols and shit like that. Metal heads love life, have senses of humor, and are just fun to be around and rock out with! So for all you metal haters;GO BUY A FALLOUT BOY CD AND DIE! One who listens and headbangs to all types of actual metal music, normally excluding Nu/Alt. metal such as Limp Bizkit or Disturbed. Metal heads have since died down in schools since the 90's. Metal heads are typically seen wearing jeans, a band t-shirt, and either long hair or buzzed head.
