Pronounced "mee-may." Short for meter maids, the folks who check to see if you haven't paid the meter or are otherwise parked illegally---and then fine you. I parked on King Street for five Goddamned minutes and wound up with a $45 ticket. I swear, man---the me-mai is worse than the po-po.
