The only place in the world that manufactures the wiffle ball. Also known for its downtown section, that only looks good in comparison to it's rival city, Derby, the smallest city in CT. Shelton High is also home to most marijuana in New England, and the third most in the country. The city is part of Fairfield County and takes pride in that, but the rest of Fairfield County wishes that Shelton didn't exist. The majority of Shelton consists of do-rags, mullets, and a middle class. This middle class consists of many people who only want to get out of the city. Shelton is also in the middle of nowhere, and it takes about 10 to 15 min to get out of it. After that, anywhere else in the world only takes 5. Usually when you have friends outside of Shelton, they are ashamed that you are from Shelton and when they tell people you are from Shelton they say it in a funny voice because thats how it should be said. The city is also home to an array of lawn ornaments, including marble lions, pink flamingos, giant horse statues, and colorful pinwheels. There is a large population of Italian and Portuguese people in Shelton, who are immensely proud of their heritage. The mayor of Shelton has been the same for what its seemed like a century, a...more...

Of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, only one had a practical use in addition to its architectural elegance: The Lighthouse of Alexandria. For sailors, it ensured a safe return to the Great Harbor. For architects, it meant even more: it was the tallest building on Earth. And for scientists, it was the mysterious mirror that fascinated them most... The mirror which reflection could be seen more than 50 km (35 miles) off-shore.more...
On the ancient island of Pharos, now a promontory within the city of Alexandria in Egypt.
Shortly after the death of Alexander the Great, his commander Ptolemy Soter assumed power in Egypt. He had witnessed the founding of Alexandria, and established his capital there. Off of the city's coast lies a small island: Pharos. Its name, legend says, is a variation of Pharaoh's Island, but it is more likely that the name is Greek in origin. The island was connected to the mainland by means of a dike - the Heptastadion - which gave the city a double harbor. And because of dangerous sailing conditions and flat coastline in the region, the construction of a lighthouse was necessary.
The project was conceived and initiated by Ptolemy Soter around 290 BC, but was completed after his death, during the reign of his son Ptolemy Philadelphus. Sostratus, a contemporary of Euclid, was the architect, but detailed calculations for the structure and its accessories were carried out at the Alexandria Library/Mouseion. The monument was d...
"The Goon Bag" is a specific location in Garema Place, Civic, Canbera City, Australia. This is a common hang out for alternitive sub-cultures, such as goth, emo, indie, punks, etc.
The Goon Bag is a sculpture of a metal over-sized cushion, which is mounted on black marble 'steps' that rise about a meter off the ground.
The actual sculpture was named 'the goon bag' due to it's metal cushion, that resembles the silver bag that cheep wine (also known as goon) comes in.
"i'll see you at the goon bag today after school"
I saw a few articles on here blaming white people for what happened to baltimore. Notably #42, "Tom's".more...
Well, here's an angry black man's opinion of the matter:
Yes, Baltimore sucks. Baltimore sucks BADLY. Why?
What was a thriving blue-collar city lined with beautiful independent ethnic family shops, marble steps, a strong sense of community and common good, was sacrificed by the democrats to create a welfare city and thus a base of power in the "south". In order to drive out industry and blockbust neighborhoods they raised taxes disproportionately, none of which were used to stimulate art or cultural activities. They overtaxed industry and forced them out, thus destroying the work force and forcing white blue collar workers to find work elsewhere (later they would slap them in the face further by saying that they "ran" from blacks because of "White Flight"). From there, the police force was corrupted from the bottom up, intentionally, by organized crime syndicates and cartels which have now made baltimore the heroin capital of the united states. Because of this, and the very NON-socialist (you have to work to make a socialist welfare state function properly) democratic scheme to create a drug-hole, street crime rose to massive proportions. This forced the rest of the ethnic european (white), jewish, mediterranean, etc communities to pack up and leave. During the race riots, the italians protected little italy by standing out in the streets with w...
The opposite of ghetto. Richest part of the richest city in the nation (Plano, TX). The worst house you will see is worth about $12 million. Houses are mansions and some even have marble driveways.
Man I wish I lived in Willow Bend I could have everything
Home of Edgar Allen Poe, Babe Ruth, the shot tower, Lexington market, Dru hill, and Druid hill park. when people envision Baltimore they see the Wire. They are partly right.
The city has it's share of "corner boys" but what place doesn't? There's lots to love about baltimore and that's putting crab cakes at the bottom of the list .You have the hard hitting ravens whose defense is capable of stopping some of the league's greatest offenses. Did you know tupac lived in baltimore for sometime? yup, he went to the Baltimore school for the arts. Along with Jada Pinkett-Smith.
Then there Marble hill along Druid Hill Avenue, all of the stairs of the row homes are marble.
Baltimore is a great place to live and visit just go and see
baltimore home of the wire?
Quite possibly the most badass dude in history. He succeeded Julius Cesar and became the emperor of the Roman Empire for 40 years.
"I found Rome a city of bricks and left it a city of marble. That is one of Augustus' most famous quotes."
