OK, so it's nu-metal music. So? People have different tastes in music- the idea for things in life is to keep an open mind. This applies to music too. Some people listen to Slipknot. That's fine by me, if they like it, let them listen to it. Some people listen to Nickelback. OK, if that's their cup of tea, more power to them. I don't quite frankly care if I get bashed for saying this: Linkin Park are musicians. They all know how to manage their instruments, and they can get a decent sound out of them. Don't you dare tell me that Joseph Hahn cannot DJ, he can turntable and use his computer skills exquisitely, and don't you dare tell me Brad Delson is a "guitard", he can shape chords even if they're not the most complex. The vocal styling for Linkin Park is undoubedly generic nu-metal, but so what? What distincts them from other nu-metal acts are the people who are doing it. There is not going to be another Shinoda or Bennington, period. They are the only ones with their kind of vocal tone. To the haters, I'm getting the vibe from your flames, bashing, unconstructive criticism, and full-out spam that you are all simply immature 5th graders that have nothing better to do than: A)Jump on the bandwagon and insult a musically capable band just because everyone else is... B)Fill a site up with pointless remarks that I can HARDLY DEFINE AS A _DEFINITION_. If you are older than 10, I feel s... |

Since I've seen that the last person who tried to write a Linkin Park article without adding their opinions did exactly the opposite, I'll take the liberty of doing it properly.
Linkin Park, previously known as Xero and Hybrid Theory, are an Alternative Metal band from Southern California, consisting of vocalist Chester Bennington, Drummer Rob Bourdon, Guitar player Brad Delson, Bass player Dave Farrell, DJ Joe Hahn, and rapper Mike Shinoda. They have released three studio albums, all of which sold very well, with the possible exception of their latest release, Minutes to Midnight. Most of their popular singles came from the previous two albums, Hybrid Theory and Meteora. Their lyrics often follow a theme concerning teen angst or a feeling of alienation, occasionally touching on relationship troubles. They have been known to add samples and scratching to many of their songs. Guy : What do you think of Linkin Park?
Dude: GOD I HATE THEM BLARGBLARG- Guy: Let's not get into this argument again. |

The greatest band to ever exist to date... imagine.. six geniuses working together as one amazing musical machine... writing songs over 6 six years ... tearing apart songs from scratch only to tear them down again just to get the best possible songs... re-writing a chorus 40 times... having two vocalists ... one who can play almost every string and wind instrument on the planet, not to mention being an amazing classical composer and pianist ... producing music and incorporating violas and cellos... now picture a second vocalist with a childhood that would make most people shudder ... picture him with such vocal capacity that allows him to sing softly and with perfectly harmony.. before screaming with three notes at the same time and summing up in his rage the feelings of millions of unknown people ... then imagine the guitarist, striking out power cords, running his fingers decorated with black nail polish down the neck of the guitar ... and the bassist who stands tall and proud adding an ominous sound... underneath it all are amazing rhythmic beats supplied by the drummer who's energy will amaze you.. and at the top, is the DJ who had his own spins and scratches and subtle sounds that shake your soul ... this is Linkin Park who's music emanates energy.. who's lyrics fill your soul ... Linkin Park is six ordinary guys with unsurpassable talent ... they care about their fans, they develop the Linkin Park Underground (75 000+ members worldwide) to connect to their fans.. giv... more...

The same year, they managed to sign a deal with Warner Bros. Records after various failed attempts. After signing the deal, they released their first album in 2000, "Hybrid Theory". It became an instant success and launched LP into mainstream. Some songs that became popular in the album were: "Crawling" and "In the End". Came 2002, after a long time touring around the US, they worked on a new album, and finally released it, under the name "Meteora". Although less successful than the first album, it still managed to sell a lot and make the band's popularity grow even more. Some songs that stood out were: "Faint", "Numb", "Somewhere I Belong" and "Breaking the Habit". After the second album's success, Linkin Park continued to tour and help in charity work. It kept going like this until 2006, where the band released their 3rd and newest album, "Minutes to Midnight", That marked a departure from the band's old rap/rock style. Now the lyrics contained some profanity and were more p... |

A nu-metal band who combine the following attributes to appeal to the mainstream:
- Vocals ranging from whimpering-to-screaming - Rapping - Computer generated music (particularly for song intros) - Repetitive and extremely simplistic guitar playing - Contrived dj scratching - Lyrics stressing "pain, wounds (unhealing wounds in some cases), - memories and running away" without justification so as to appeal to the majority of teenagers or anybody who has ever felt a bit sad in their life. - Songs strictly 2:30 to 3:30 minutes in length to fit radioplay standards rather than show musical expression. - Gimmicky albums where songs are re-arranged and re-performed are put out more than their actual studio albums with original music (of which they have two, 'Hybrid Theory' and 'Meteroa') Some typical linkin park lyrics
- "memories consume like opening the wound" - "crawling in my skin, these wounds they will not heal" - "it's easier to run replacing this pain with something numb" |
