Keystone Kops

term used to describe an inept group of people for their mistakes and/or lack of coordination and/or inability to get things done. Comes from a series of silent movies made by the Keystone Film Company between 1912 and 1917 about a group of incompetent policemen and their various escapades.
I don't know about you, but in the past few years, it seems to me that every time there is a major crisis, the government runs around like the Keystone Kops!

Keystone Kops

Pennsylvania State Police.

Taken from both the silent comedy movies of the same name and that Pennsylvania is the Keystone State, using the keystone as one of its symbols (which is found as the dash separator on their license plates as well).
"Slow down - there's a Keystone Kop sitting up on that bridge!"

"PA has a nice state law - only the Keystone Kops can use radar. Local police can't."

On the surface often appears to be the most well-behaved, tender trustworthy person, but underneath is full of nothing but repressed anger which is split off and lies at the core of the soul. Not understanding love, will subsequently rage and diminish and devalue its closest companions.

A 'kopstoot' or 'kopstootje' is a Dutch term for a glass of beer combined with a young gin. It has to be in seperate glasses otherwise it does not count as a kopstoot! Popularised by a local man from Rotterdam, this term has become quite well known in the Netherlands. The literal translation is 'headbutt' and comes from the feeling one might get while consuming the 2 drinks quickly after one another.
"Bro, did Rijk-Jan just drink a kopstoot?"
"Yeah he did, he is completely wasted."
