not to be confused with a nymphomaniac, an infomaniac is a person who thrives and exists based on his knowledge of facts (usually useless ones), much like a nymphomaniac relies on sex.
the symptoms of infomaniacy are obvious: a person who gathers information about anything in a very broad spectrum and without focus and has the need to share said information with all his surroundings.

John: "Did you hear that today in the news there was this article about the new research of the migration patterns of the extinct arctic snail that lived 400,000 years ago on a diet of microscopic alge and plankton and..."

2. Person who uses terms, queries, and actions related to the retrieval of information from arcane sources.
3. Librarian.

Wow, I searched Google for hours and couldn't find what I was looking for. That librarian managed to find the answer in minutes. (s)he's a real infomancer.

infomania

a state that you can get into if have been looking for sesquipedalian and/or esoteric words on the internet or reading trivia books. You're in the "zone" & you would be just fine playing 'Jeopardy' or 'Who wants to be a Millionaire'.

I spent all day looking up strange words on Wikipedia, when, all of a sudden I had a revelation and got infomania, I sounded like a walking Library of Congress.

'The guy's such an infomaniac ! I just asked him for the train times, and he told me how many wheels each engine would have...'

Informance Art 

Practiced by mainstream media, especially the Big 3 Cable News services, Fox, CNN, & MSNBC. Taking the truth and swaddling it in a tapestry of untruths and exaggerations to appeal to a certain demographic.

That story by Rachel Maddow was Informance Art at its finest, it made me think Republicans really do eat babies.
