Simply because they think they have invented such socially time immemorial concepts as sex, drugs, fashion, etc

Father: son, my favorite idiotager, even if you are no longer virgin, you did not invent sex, drugs or fashion. Now go and invent something like a cure for aids and then feel important about yourself.

what was, IMHO, before the Woodstock Festival of 1969, called a teenager.

an idiotager is so named because kids in that age range, 13-21 (with very few exceptions nowadays) don't behave like bratagers- but do behave like idiots repeating the mistakes of previous generations in terms of re-inventing and/or re-discovering sex, drugs, fashion styles, and music.
