Evacuation from a major hurricane turned into a short holiday. During Hurricane Katrina we took a hurrication in Jacksonville until it blew through.

The time one spends at home with friends and massive quantities of alcohol. This is usually preceded by a hurricane which one did not evacuate from. Usually accompanied by a lack of electrical power. Good times. Heather, "Ok, so we have two cases of Corona, two cases of Lone Star and a few bottles of wine, will that be enough for our hurrication?"
Lisa, "Yeah, that should be enough, however we don't have any ice, water, batteries or candles. We'll be great." |

Similar to staycation; when you can't travel or go to work because of a hurricane and are forced to stay at home, relaxing and feeling happy that you don't have to go to work A: Hey dude, how are you coping with this terrible hurricane?
B: It's a drag that the trains and buses aren't running, but the good news is that I can't go to work! I'm spending my hurrication sleeping, eating and drinking everything I have. |
