2. hippie hop
Rap music created by people who like the idea of rapping but are too sensitive to write songs about ass n' titties n' big booty bitches, so they rap about saving the environment and bringing down the government and creating equality and assorted other hippie causes

Often, it results when kids grow up listening to hip hop, but live in well-to-do surburban environments, and lack the hard edge of street kids. Hippie hoppers are generally too polite to swear, and almost invariably have dreadlocks. They refuse to sing songs about gang violence, because it affronts their tree hugging philosophy of sandlewood candles and felafel rolls

Examples include: Michael Franti, John Butler, 1200 Techniques. There are others, but I can't think of any more right now

There are in fact rappers who care about social issues, but don't let it turn them into bead collecting pussies. Ice Cube is an example, and is not a hippie hopper
Michael Franti: "You can bomb the world to pieces, but you can't bomb it into peace"

1200 Techniques: "How am I supposed to live in a world fulla negative? How am I supposed to love in a world fulla push and shove? How am I supposed to breathe in a world fulla lust and greed?"

Ice Cube: "And if they approach-us, I... I... I bury those cockroach-es"

Ice Cube is the antithesis of hippie hop
