one falsely presuming that their own actions are far more cool/significant that they actually are, often deserving the song "Heroes" (originally performed by David Bowie and later by the Wallflowers) to be played/sung as a sarcastic theme song as they walk away. Jack and Jill are sitting at a coffee shop enjoying polite conversation. A pop-collar-frat-boy-looking hero appears.
Jack: Can I help you? Hero: (staring intently at Jill) I just wanted to say whazzzup and see how y'all were doing. Jill: Go away, you're creeping me out. Hero: Well I'll see you kids later then. (turns and walks away, obviously trying to strut as he does so) Jill: (sarcastically singing) We could be heroes... Jack: (following suit) ...for just one day. |

A Submarine Sandwich. The long sandwich featuring layers of meat and cheese on a crusty Italian roll goes by a variety of names. Submarine, sub, and hero are widespread. Localized terms are bomber (upstate New York), wedge (downstate New York), hoagie (Delaware Valley, including Philadelphia and southern New Jersey), grinder (New England), Cuban sandwich (Miami), Italian sandwich (Maine), Italian (southern Midwest), and poor boy (New Orleans, before Katrina) now goes by soggy boy. Yeah, I'll have a Pepperoni, Italin Sausage, Ham and Salami Hero with everything on it.
