Hells Kitchen

Irish American neighborhood on New York Citys west side. It was once the most dangerous neighborhood in New York and the reason for its name is that a reporter traveling through the neighborhood during the 1950's once wrote in the new york times that "this neighborhood from 37th to 59th street and from 8th avenue to the Hudson is worse than the hottest place in Hell" and Hells Kitchen derived from that. Irish immigrants lived in shacks and slums all over hells kitchen and gangs like the "Westies" and the "shamrocks" did and still do rule the streetz of the neighborhood. Tough Irish kids from Hells Kitchen would often fight off blacks from Harlem and Hispanics from other neighborhoods. gang violence in hells kitchen was soo bad during the 1960's and early 2000's that police officers were paid to sit in classrooms with teachers and students at almost all public and private schools in the neighborhood. This is the neighborhood that only accepts the poorest of the poor and you have to be Irish. Hells kitchen is and always will be a Irish ghetto.
another Irish gang murder occured in Hells Kitchen over the past weekend.

Hell's Kitchen

Hell's Kitchen ...more than a neighborhood...it's a state of mind. From the slaughterhouses and breweries of the 1800s, the draft riots of 1863, the Fighting 69th of World War I, the home of New York's most dangerous criminals from the early tenement days to Prohibition to the Westies, Hell's Kitchen rose from the blood and fire of the poor dreaming their riotous dreams and searing the urban landscape with a wild, demanding spirit. The story of Hell's Kitchen can be told in many ways, and must be told in many ways: in poetry and fiction, in art and film, biographies, histories and photographs. It's not one block, and it is. It's not one area, because the sum total is greater than what can be seen in a certain space or any lifetime.
It's War man...look like Hell's Kitchen...

Hell's Kitchen

Chill neighborhood on the West Side, where I was born and raised. Natives include Sylvester Stallone as well as the fictional Daredevil. Sadly, more and more snobs are moving in, gentrifying us into this so-called 'Clinton' neighborhood.
I have mad chill views of Jersey from my apartment, not that I would ever want to go to that suburban hellhole. Stay out of NY, Jay and Silent Bob!

Hell's Kitchen

n. An obsolete term for the West Side of Manhattan when it was a violent slum. The suburban transplants that have moved into the neighborhood are making every effort to resurrect the name "Hell's Kitchen" as they believe it will afford them instant street credibility. Psuedo-Street Smarts that they hope will disguise their middle-class suburban upbringing. The neighborhood has since "gentrified" great since the late 1980s and is now comprised of transplants and the trendy cafes/shops that come with them.
Notice how dumb it sounds when you have some obvious suburbanite refer to where they live as "Hell's Kitchen?!"

Power Couple

A relationship between two people who are equally as cool as each other. They are as individually awesome and fun to be around as they are when they are together.

Neither one depends on the other for their feelings of self worth- they know in their heart that they are just as valuable to the world as the other. Good looking, optimistic, and sparks a light in the world that people recognize that goes beyond a normal relationship.

In a power couple, if one person is flawed, the other person makes up for their weaknesses in strength. Together they are the epitome of what anyone would desire in a relationship. They encourage goodness in the world and make it a better place by being together.
I'm a fan of those two, they are such a power couple, the epitome of what anyone would want in a relationship.

I am envious of them because they are a power couple.
